  1. Considering your connecting rod didn't go through the block or out the oil pan, I'd say so. What kind of diagnostics did the mechanic do? I was surprised to hear new engine.
  2. closest to Childress, TX I could find a rebuilt 22re (assuming your 86 has the 22re) in Dallas/Fort Worth for 1200.00 https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ptd/d/22r-22re-toyota-pickup/6644566512.html
  3. where is the RV located? I'm at a computer and I have a knack for finding things. I'm totally down to try and help. for this is my worst fear, and I would appreciate any help I could get.
  4. first part is up hill almost 3000 ft in elevation. next time all record the mileage on the way back. off hand it didn't seem much different.
  5. I seen this come up and thought it may be useful for you. https://susanville.craigslist.org/pts/d/dodge-toyota-ford-parts/6639253821.html he may have what you need for a great deal.
  6. I would hit 65 even 70 at times. Now I do have a newer 22re crate motor. Not sure of any extra bells and whistles. Has about 30k on new motor. Tranny was overhauled 10k miles ago too. Tire psi at 65 and I use 87 octane fuel. I did put in new rotor and cap I put in 8.2 high performance wires new OE spark plugs. New air filter
  7. Yes I was very impressed 43 bucks to get to the ocean. I forgot on my first post to say. When I first got my RV I had a vibration a fine vibration from my rear end. It would come up around 50 to 55 that's it. I found my problem was fine dirt/sand build up on the inside of the rims. I cleaned off the dirt/sand and now it rides smooth. I would think tire shops would know to look for that, but you never know. I have a friend that works for a reno volcanizing and I can't say he would know to look for that. So you may want to check
  8. I have all my tires at 65 PSI. (thinking about lowering it to 50 or 55) I just went 230 miles 2 weekends ago on 12.6 gallons and averaged 18.25 miles per gallon. I am really impressed with my MPG. 43 bucks to go from Reno, NV to Mill Valley, CA
  9. My rv had the transmission completely rebuilt 10k miles ago. I found a $3500. dollar receipt in the glove box. I'm not sure if my altitude thing is plug in or not. I did notice on my way over and back sometimes it would kick out of OD on its own and sometimes I'd use the switch. I'm happy to test something if you'd like. Let me know how and I'll do it. I got lucky I also found a receipt for a new motor 30k miles ago. PO did all kinds of work.
  10. For me it went like this. I kept it in overdrive. One I got a hill and my speed dropped to 45-50 I pushed my OD off. If it was a steep hill and my speed continued to drop I kicked it down into 3rd. I did that both ways over the pass and in San Francisco. Think I should change my fluid? Linda, you are a wealth of knowledge. It's amazing how much you know.
  11. How come? I just drove from Reno to San Francisco and found it useful, a lot. I used OD often crossing the pass. Is it hard on something? And also over going over the pass took me to 7,000 feet in elevation and mine worked flawlessly. And I have a 86 Dolphins 22re automatic.
  12. I was just wondering this today. My MH was almost on empty and I filled it up and it only held just over 12 gallons. had me thinking I had a smaller gas tank. something to keep in mind when you hit "E" you still got a few gallons of gas.
  13. I had this happen to me last week. all of the sudden all the lights stopped working except my water pump that switch I could still turn on. for me my problem was the connector at the battery. put on a new terminal and boom it all started working again. my control panel is that acu-tel ? something like that cant remember. Im sure someone here can chime in. but I'm sure they are all relatively the same.
  14. I got my air bags installed. the job wasn't too bad. I had to use a cutoff wheel to cut off my rubber bump stops. I also had to cut off my old T-9 perches as well. but they are in and my rear end is no longer dragging around. much better going down the road. I am very happy with it. anyone on the fence about it shouldn't be.
  15. after looking at your photos a little closer it looks like yours is missing the metal frame?
  16. i have that same couch in my RV. it folds the other way. It should also be bolted down. Mine wasn't and over the years of people flopping down on it caused it to keep pushing back against the wall causing my wall to bow a little there. but pull the back rest forward and it should line up perfect.
  17. Thank you. I'll keep that in mind with the black tank. I haven't decided if I'm going to bother with getting it right or not. I have this tendency when I get something new to me to run through it all and try and make it 100. I'm trying to learn to just enjoy something hahaha.
  18. I figured it out. Couldn't find the video again but a household stud finder did the job. I found in the bottom j rail under the bunk. I found a stud running across. I screwed on angle aluminum all the way across and made support brackets it turned out excellent and gave alot of support. It's dark here now but come morning I'll take some photos to show.
  19. just seen this on craigslist is it a scam not sure, but it sure is cool https://reno.craigslist.org/rvs/d/1992-toyota-hiace-diesel-rv/6612874194.html
