  1. Nolan, here is a link. These folks have a kit. Turbo Kit There is someone else making a header and turbo kit, they use a hybrid t3/t4 turbo. Can not remember who or find the link. There is also another guy who puts together a kit that just includes a stainless steel down tube and 2.5 inch complete stainless exhaust. I know someone who bought the later with out the exhaust. There were some problems with the install but its running. Maybe I will contact him and get over here to give us the exact story.
  2. The web site says nothing about Toyota's. Maybe they do not build them anymore for the toys. My tank hangs off the frame rails with some heavy duty brackets. I would think it would be easy to put one of these tanks in. Here is a pic.
  3. I was crawling under my rig today and noticed a label on the fuel tank. My tank is the optional OEM 26 gallon tank offered to Sunrader owners. The label has the manufacturers name on it, the capacity etc.. So a search on the internet and what do you know. STILL IN Business!!! Great news for me because I have some fuel gauge issues and I need the gaskets for the access ports on the top because they are leaking. So here is the web address Transfer Flow Fuel Tanks. I will contact them on Monday and get more information. Here is a pic of the label.
  4. The GVWR is 5080. Also says to run 32 pounds each in the rear tires for 6 ply. Mine are 6 ply but load range C and I am running 50 pounds each.
  5. It is a stock factory turbo. The V6 has alittle more horse power but the 22rte has more torque at a lower rpm. 22RTE 1986-1987 135@4800 173@2800 3VZE 1988-1995 150@4800 180@3400 To me it looks like the power curve of the 22rte starts lower which can be a benifit in high altitude hill starts. V6 though might be in the same torque range at 2800 rpm though. The turbos were introduced to compete with the Datsun v6. It is felt that the introduction of the turbos was rushed thru engeneering and so the turbo falls short in some ways. The exhaust side tends to overheat and fail, bearings are actually not the first to fail, its usually a hole gets burned thru the housing at the waste gate. Its felt that it was not designed to allow for enough exhaust flow all the way thru the exhaust system. Which in turn causes back pressure and an overheat condition. I have no idea the weight of my rig. I am on my way back outside and will see if I can find the Gross weight tag. I was under it today and realized that a previous owner had added sping helpers to both the front and rear side of both rear springs. I also noticed that the passenger side tire has been rubbing on the frame rail. The spring bushings are shot. The rear shackle is probably 3 times as long as a standard Toy MH and so it allows the axle to shift more to the left or right when taking curves. Thats my theory, might be wrong but can not think of another reason.
  6. Wish I could put 4 tires on our Saab for that price?
  7. All I have done is add a K&N air cleaner. Plan to adjust the valves tomarrow. I adjusted them a couple of weeks ago and it did help on power but one is still clacking. They are a pain to adjust. If money allows one day I would like to swap out the oem turbo to a hybrid along with a header and larger exhaust. Maybe a different cam too. Probably will need a ring job by then.
  8. Costco has carried them for years, at least for cars. I have never heard of any big problems with them. Supposed to be a really good tire company.

  10. Its a 6 lug but no adapter. 15 inch wheels real duallys. Toyota can not find a listing for them. We are staying home Memorial day weekend. My wife has some major tests in school and will need study time. Were going up near Point Reys in a couple of weeks. Sometime after that up to the Sierras for our mountain fix! Greg
  11. Actually I don't think it is. I looked at mine and they are standard rims. Greg
  12. A split rim is a two piece rim. On one side of the rim there is a ring that can be pryed off allowing the tire to easily slip off the rim. Big trucks have these. Guess I better go out and look at mine.
  13. Wish mine were all the same. I think in 87 and newer all the rigs have the 1 ton front end so all the rims are the same. My 86 4x4 even though both rear and front are 6 lug the front are different rims. Mine has a factory rear axle upgrade to the full floating. I'm not even sure if mine front or rear are split rims. Are yours split rims? That would be great to be able to fix a flat out in the middle of no-where. Greg
  14. Thats a negative. What I meant is, if you plan to mix old with new on the rear. I should have made that more clear. On the duals imagine if you put a new tire, a different brand next to an old tire. Just seems to me that the difference in diameter between an old and new tire could be considerable and could cause one tire to carry more weight. Maybe I am wrong, seems possible though. I suppose one way is to inflate both old and new to the same pressure, stand them side by side and see if they are the sane height. Might be something to consider if you plan to run the spare on the rear in case of a flat. I am still looking for a rim for my rig. I only have a spare for the front. Greg
  15. Make sure the new tires are the almost exact same diameter. If one is larger it will end up cayying more load until it wears down. I would put the old ones on the front so they match. If on the rear mix them.
  16. I am currently running these Tires, Michelin LTX M/S Radials - Tire size: LT 215/75 R15, Tire Load capacity: (Single 1765LBS @ 50psi cold - Dual 1610 @ 50 psi cold). My rig though is a 4x4 18 footer and allot lighter than your rig. They came on the rig when I bought her and as of now I have no complaints other than looks. Something a bit more aggressive looking on a 4x4 is allways better looking. I'm a Perrili, Good Year and Michelin fan with good year my prefference for trucks. My opinion is buy what you can aford that you trust and enough plys to carry the weight safely. All the posts I have read about tire pressure tells me that the 14 inchers need to run more pressure, in the 60 - 65 pound zone. I am far from an expert. I think I would visit a truck tire shop and tell them what you got how much it weighs and see what they say. To be safe I should weigh the rear wheels and see what they are actually carrying. Right now I have a tire carry weight of 6440 pounds, I might actually need more and not know it. When I say weigh I mean each set with a scale under each set not on a truck scale. A truck scale is fine for overall weight but it does not tell you whats sitting on the rear tires.
  17. Axle Facts, Questions & Answers is a place to post your questions regarding the old and new axles our Toyota Motorhomes have. 1985 and earlier Toys came with a non floating type axle subject to breaking. 1986 and later were equipped with a full floating axle. For a complete Axle Fact article written by HeyJames451 from the Yahoo Campers group click Axle_FAQ.pdf. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. The document will open in its own window.
  18. Hi Nolan Thanks for the compliments. Just got this up and running. Its still in the planning stage. Still learning how it works. Still working on the web site, should have your pages back up soon! Greg
