  1. My bushings were in good shape but it is easy to see how wear would make things wobbly.
  2. We recently completed a 9 month trip across the US and had great luck with Boondockers Welcome and Harvest Hosts. Some of our best memories are of the places we stayed for free.
  3. I removed the fuel line from the generator and when the vehicle engine is running fuel is pushed through this hose, it is not under a tremendous amount of pressure but is flowing out. This leads me to a couple of thoughts. a) there is an obstruction in the line to the tank side of the tee b) since the fuel return is under the gas tank level the pressure needed to flow into the tank is enough that it is pushing to the generator as well. I will just leave the fuel shut off in place and manually turn it on and off when I need to use the generator. Maybe someday relocate it to a more accessible location or find a cable actuated valve so I can turn it on and off from the cabin.
  4. I have always had weird but desirable campers and cars, VW (including syncros), Casitas, Jeep CRD and all have appreciated beyond what I would pay for them. I bought most of my VW's for less than a grand, now you can't find a rusted out shell for that price. I feel the Toyhomes are headed in the same direction, Sunrader leading the pack. The "vanlife" movement is picking up steam on one end and people are moving to full service RV's on the other end. Toyhomes are getting a lot of attention from the van people who want driveabilty and an on board bathroom. My ride is young in miles but old in years so I know it will need some love but I'm cool with taking care of it. It's not for everyone.
  5. Yes it has an onboard fuel pump, not sure if it is electric or vacuum. I think the idea of disconnecting the fuel line to the generator and running the engine is a stellar troubleshooting idea. I may have a restriction that is allowing the pressure on the return line to push fuel into the generator carb. Probably have a worn needle and seat in that itty bitty carb as well. Probably just stick with the fuel cutoff, it seems messing with a good running generator is like waking a sleeping baby.
  6. I installed the AirLift system with a compressor and two gauges and individual control. The lines have a built in sensor that will fire up the compressor if the lines go below 5psi. It really helped out with bottoming and feels much more composed. I have a sway bar and with the bags a recent drive in strong winds the little guy hardly noticed and maintained composure even with strong side winds. Next suspension project is to crank the front end up a little bit. It appears that there are Bilstien's on the front, at least some yellow shocks. If not then KYB's on the way.
  7. Oops, take it back, the line that has the t is the fuel return line. That makes sense but still doesn't explain the gas leaking into the generator.
  8. The lines are tight and leak free and the Onan Generator runs great. It is just the gas smell when driving that is the problem. I wonder if there is enough pressure on the return line that it is forcing fuel into the generator carb and leaking out?
  9. It is not on the pressure line but on the smaller line that connects directly to the top of the tank, not in the access cap to the pump.
  10. The PO on my 1992 Horizon-ST put a fuel cut off on the generator fuel line because he said when driving it would smell like gas. I checked it out and if I left it in the "on" position gas is being pushed to the generator. After reading several posts I thought it might be t'eed on the FI main line allowing the pump to pressurize the line. Crawling underneath and referencing the service manual I see that it is t'eed into the No. 2 fuel hose, the lower small line. My 92 has a main line which is larger and 2 smaller lines beneath it. This line goes into the tank separate from the cap over the FI pump that includes the large line and the upper small return line. I don't know what this lower line does, after the T it follows the other return line to the front. I lose it under the engine. It maybe another return line? Why would it have pressure while driving? I would prefer that I don't have to switch the fuel on and off with use. Thoughts?
  11. Damn my mountain bike age is showing. Not sure where that came from. Air-Lift with compressor, dual side controller. Is that better? When I first saw a modern dropper post, I flashed back and thought, what's next, oval chainrings? Yep.
  12. Hite Rite system is ordered and on thway along with replacement KYB shocks. Thanks for the tech link!
  13. And some airbags! I may need some OME springs as well, it is a bit saggy.
  14. Never mind on the manuals, found the secret stash for all of the appliances. I would like to find a cop of the chassis owners manual if there is one online? Playing with the new Toy, I pumped up the air shocks (not bags), no change in height. Let out all the air. No change in height, that is not the way it supposed to be is it?
  15. Hi, longtime lurker, first time poster. I just bought a very clean 92 Horizon-ST, 65k miles, solid but with a few cosmetic needs. Unfortunately no manuals and I have found very little info about these models. I am a long time Rv-er, just finished a 9 month tour towing a trailer. I would like to know about the components and any issues. I am sure I will figure it out by reverse engineering and poking around but if anyone has this model i would appreciate an assist. In the short term I will need to reline the shower as the "vinyl" is de-laminating and some personal tweaking. Longer term will be solar, external storage, and a complete window and roof reseal. Really looking forward to camping in this little beast and being part of the community! Clay
