  1. Hi Pacific Shoreline,

I was checking out this plex~ lexan MR10, and it said it was for a flat surface.  Have you tried bending it yet?  What did you wind up using?  I am seriously considering glassing over the windows.  The leaks are never ending.

    Thx, Robin

I have mine but never put it on. When I took the old stuff off there was a huge gap between the cab and the coach that I had to fill before I could attach it. I have heard of people using contact cement or other types of glue. Some used a glue gun. Sometimes they applied white caulk to the edges. When I get around to mine I think I'm going to use that new flex glue. Very sticky and hold instantly. Seems to make a very strong bond. Glued the head back on my weed eater and it's still holding

Filled the gap with exterior caulk. Was white so it looked good for a while. Not white anymore. Time to finish the job

    Thanks so much!

That helps- mine is really warped. I guess I could clean and caulk over it.,...

    Tooling + set-up cost + minimum production run = BIG $$$$$

I don't think 3D printing is a good application for long extrusions. Yet. :)

I agree, but check out what I found. I might buy a stick of it to try.

Has anyone found the piece that seals between the cab and cabin?

It's a custom extrusion made for Sunrader. Chance of anyone else needing the same shape is not good.

I wonder if a slew of us need it, and I'm sure there are plenty of us, if we can get it made by an extrusion company. Probably super expensive...

The deal is it needs to be white. Not an easy thing to find and none I did find were even close

It is really hard to find - I'm looking as well if I see anything I'll let you know.

FYI, I recently found a plastics shop which can fabricate replacement, wrap-around cab-over windows for the Sunraders at $175 each.

    Q&I Plastics, 445 Portal St #9, Cotati, CA 94931; (707) 795-0612

    The owner's name is Rick.

My passenger side window ('85, narrow profile) was cracked badly but intact. I dropped it off at this place and within a few hours Rick had the new window done. I took the rv back and he helped me install it. It had to be trimmed a little bit, but once in fits perfectly and looks fantastic.

Rick's got my old window and could use that as a template, or if you've got an intact one you could send it to him. HOWEVER, Rick is very conscientious and would really prefer to have the rv there to make sure the finished product is perfect. If you are willing to reassure him you're happy to do any trimming yourself, he'll likely be willing to ship a finished product to you. (Rick uses a dremel mounted to a work bench to do his trimming)

Sad news - Rick has downsized and moved out of state. He no longer does this work. I asked him if he knew anyone who does. His phone is disconnected but he still has messenger.

While the windows are out it might help to flatten the long side some. Lay on table with cured side hanging off. Heat with hot blow dryer. Heat gun is too hot, too much chance of a mistake. Then put some books or other non scratching item on the window so it will cool flat

Oh he walks on the hood. Better to rig up some kind of scaffold to protect your cab. If I still lived in San Jose I would be there to help but far away now. Sorry

You are all a wonderful resource! Linda- thanks for the parts links, and video!! RaderNed, thanks for the plastics source. Whoever called it on not having it fiberglassed over- you just saved me from doing that!

  8. Fred, Maineah, Dan and Derek,

Thanks, this is great information and will save me lots of time.  I do have a Chilton's repair book, and it includes a wiring diagram. I'd thought of tracing the wires ~ so thanks for encouraging that and isolating some of the related parts I need to check. I will get back to you all once I can get over and work on this.  R

  9. Thanks Derek,   I will Clean and lube the wiper linkage! Great idea!

But the wipers worked for a short time (enough for me to believe they were fine), when I first picked up the Dolphin.  Even when I didn't turn them on, the fuse still blew.  I think it is definitely a wiring problem. THis guy had a 30 amp fuse in a 20 and it still blew.  I have to rewire the whole dash maybe.  Need to figure this out!  Thanks again.

  10. Just bought a '78 Dolphin.  The previous owner tried adding stuff he shouldn't have and as I drove from a little town in upper MN, a storm made me realize that more than ever.  The wipers would not work, the fuse kept blowing.  Thanks to RainX, I drove right through without a hitch.

The hitch is, now I want to fix this.  Any advice?

    Thanks!  Rockin
