  1. I had a 2005 Winnebago View and I installed a macerator, loved it, once "dumped" sewer over a wall and through a window to a toilet in a friends home in Baja, Mexico. I loved that thing. I watched a poor woman have her dump hose blow up at a dump site while my macerator was blithely emptying my black water tank. Needless to say I want to put one on my 1987 Sunrader with a rear bath.

When I purchased my old macerator their were many on the market and I settled for a hard wired one in the rather large "sewer" compartment in the View. I don't have much room in the Sunrader for this solution.

I know that technology has changed and I once considered one that attached to the dump hose and a garden hose ran the macerator rather than electricity, as mine did.

Any ideas what I might look for to use in my Sunrader? I really like using a garden hose to do dumps.

    Thanks,

  2. I emailed Progressive Dynamics as to which inteli-charger would work best in my 87 Sunrader. Their reply:

What is in the 1987 Sunrader now ?

If it is a deck-mount style then I would go with the PD9200 series.

I have been exploring those mentioned above. Any thoughts on this? All I know of what I have is that it appears to be very small.

  3. How did your swap out go?

I have an '87 Sunrader and want to upgrade my converter. I used a progressive dynamic intelicharger in my winnebago view and it saved my batteries from sulfating.

    Thanks,

Progressive Dynamics has just released a direct slide in replacement for the old 6300 units. It uses the same electronics and components as their stand alone units except the install is now extremely easy. These all have the same "Charge Wizard" technology that their standard units have and they come with a modern DC distribution bus that you will need to change also.

The PD web site where you can read about these:

This company is offering them at a discount price:

You can always go the "old school" route and fabricate one of their stand alone units into your ac/dc distribution box

  4. Thanks WME! I have been known to shock myself with an electric tooth brush. I did find however that once the shock wore off I wasn't depressed anymore.  I will seek expert help with this.

Thank you very much for your input.

  5. I had two 12V deep cycle batteries and solar on my Winnebago View. I was able to run my CPAP and never had a problem with a battery running dry.

My new 1987 Sunrader has only one 12V coach battery.

I have seen external power supplies for CPAP's and am considering this since I see no place to add more battery capacity, the single 12V sits in the engine compartment and there is no room for 2 6V deep cycle batteries.

Anyone used one of these external 12V power supplies? http://www.cpap.com/productpage/bps-freedom-travel-cpap-battery-kit.html

  6. Wow! Thanks Derek.

I now see this an either/or proposition, either the 9245 or 4000. The first one is like the one I installed in my View, the second one 4000 is new to me.

Would you be willing to elaborate on the pros and cons?

    Thanks again,

  7. Thanks all. The Progressive Dynamic what I installed too in my 2005 View. It was called an inteli-charger and it saved me a ton of money on batteries. Any Sunrader owners who have installed these? Any idea how I might find the correct one for my 1987 Sunrader?.

Thanks again, really appreciate this group and hope I too can help over time.

  8. I have an '87 Sunrader. My last motor home was a 2005 Winnebago View and I swapped out the converter for an "intelicharger" converter. I found that with the original that my batteries, 2 six volt deep cycle, sulfated during the winter and I had to replace them, two years in a row. They were very expensive Trojans. I found the "intelicharger" pulsed 14 amps into the batteries occasionally preventing sulfate build up. No more problems and I was able to use cheap Costco golf cart batteries.

Has anyone with a Sunrader replaced their converter with a later model?

    Thanks,

Life is good in the slow lane!
