  1. Thanks for the helpful advice, everybody!
  2. Thanks for the pix! Looks like you did a really good job on it. I've been thinking of painting my roof with elastomeric after I get done with everything else. After seeing your pix, I may have to rethink that. Doesn't look like it held up very well! Thanks!
  3. One more note -- I haven't seen any evidence of leaking inside in this area, unlike other parts of the roof. That's why I didn't pay any attention to this part until now. After seeing how it looks now, I'm kind of surprised by that!
  4. Next time, I will pay more attention to duct tape on roof left by last owner... I removed some duct tape from one side of the roof, and found a nasty crack in the roof. There's one large crack over a foot long, with some shorter parallel cracks near it. When I feel this with my finger, it's just slightly higher on one side of the crack than the other. This is on the front downward-slanting portion of the roof, near one side. Based on the position of it, I'm guessing somebody hit a low-hanging tree branch. Not fast enough to rip a hole in anything, but enough to leave these nasty cracks. And then somebody covered it over with duct tape! Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions and tips on the best way to fix this. My first thought is to use Marine Tex for structural strength, followed by Eternabond tape. I'd appreciate any comments and ideas, since you all have a lot more experience with this than I do. Thanks! - Deanna.
  5. Hi Homer - Thanks for the info! I wonder what the antenna was for? Definitely nothing that's in there now! So, it looks like it's safe to just get rid of this, and I will follow your example on that. The fewer holes in the roof, the better! Thanks again, - Deanna.
  6. Sorry for the stupid question, but can anybody tell me what this thing is on my roof? (Note, the black spot is not a hole, but a spot of black paint - there aren't any holes in it aside from the screw holes.) Underneath all the silicone, I discovered that the plastic is cracked in places around the bottom, and the screws are badly rusted. I'd like to either remove this or replace it, but I'm not sure which. Do I need it? When I undid all the screws, it is still attached near one end from underneath, so I can pivot it around, but it doesn't come off. I don't see any attachment point inside the camper, so it must be above the ceiling. Thanks in advance for your assistance! - Deanna.
  7. While investigating possible products, I wrote to 360 Siphon's customer service, asking for more info about their exact dimensions, and how it might fit in the space I had available. I sent a photo along with it to show the issue. I was quite surprised to get a very helpful message back from Bob, the owner of the company. He thanked me for the photo, and told me he thinks their product should fit in my space without modification, and he gave me some tips on installation. He also asked about my pipe dimensions, and is sending me an adapter I'll need (no extra charge). He's been amazingly helpful, sending me detailed instructions and photos of installation. I haven't yet received the product, so I'll see how it works out, and post a follow up later. But I was really impressed by the customer service!
  8. Thanks for the recommendations, everybody! I guess the previous owner had a good idea, slicing off the side like that. I had occasionally noticed an odor when I drive with the windows down, but frankly i've been focused on the water issue instead. If I can fix them both in one shot, that would be great! I'll be looking into the suggestions you all provided, to see which I could make fit in this spot. I'll have to get some measurements. And I'll be sure to butyl and seal it as well as possible. Thanks again!
  9. Hi there! I'm a pretty new owner, and picked up my Sunland Express this June. I've been lurking on the forum since then - a ton of excellent info here! But here's the problem... I've got some serious roof leaks on this, and I'm working my way through cleaning up and resealing roof vents and seams. I've made use of a ton of info I've gotten from this forum about how to do things, so thanks everybody! But I'm not sure what to do with the plumbing vent. I first noticed it was missing a cap. Then, as I was cleaning off the gobs of silicone covering the base, I found that the plastic vent cover was cracked in places, and that there's nothing sealing the vent cover to the pipe. I also found that a previous owner had taken a standard round vent cover and sawed off one side to make it fit in this position. I've been searching for a vent cover that can fit here, but haven't found one. There's less than 1" between the pipe and the side trim. Is this a standard configuration? Does anybody make covers that will fit this? Is there a better solution than buying one and sawing off the side? I'd sure appreciate any ideas you folks have! Thanks!
