  1. 7/20/07 Pat, I am very interested in the answers you get on this question about roof AC for a Sunrader. We, like you, are new to all of this. We purchased a 1983 Sunrader a couple of months ago and we are looking at getting a roof AC. If you don't mind I would like to ask a few questions to the more experienced owners: 1. I have seen new 13,500 BTU roof AC units weighing in the 75-85lb range. Is this much lighter that the ones used 10-15 years ago? If there is a major difference in the weight of new versus old how much of a factor would that be relating to roof sag? 2. In your opinion is the installation of a new roof AC better than it was 10-15 years ago? I ask this question knowing that roof leakage is a big problem and perhaps the newer units are installed with better seals? 3. Has anyone who owns an older Sunrader actually reinforced their roofs to support an AC unit? Thanks everyone for the help. Bob
  2. Do you have one you want to sell?
  3. Thanks Mike. I appreciate the advise and the pictures. I will let you know when I find one. Bob
  4. I am a new owner of an 1983 Sunrader. I would like to add a Sunrader storage pod. Any one have one for sale or know where I can buy one. Thanks in advance.
  5. Keith. Thanks for the great information. I appreciate the time and consideration. I will let you know what we decide to do. Bob
  6. No we haven't installed a generator. We are new at this and still doing our homework.
  7. Thanks to everyone who responded to my question. I think we will keep the propane and add a small Honda generator for those times when we are away from a hook up. Best to all. Bob
  8. Thanks Mike. I have no intention of bothering anyone around me with a noisy generator. I do not know if the current generation of generators run quiet enough. Just lookng for suggestions. I wanted to see if anyone has made this switch and their experience in doing it.
  9. Hello, I have a newly purchased 1983 21 ft Sunrader. It is a 4 speed. It only has 21,000 miles on it. It is in like new condition. It has been garaged for the last 15 years with very little use. I used this forum as a resource to check check out the RV part of the unit. It has no rust. I found no evidence of water damage. The roof looks brand new. It has the upgraded axles. We knew going in that with so few miles that it could be a good thing or a very bad thing. We had a presale inspection at a local auto repair facility. The owner of the shop has an 1982 Toyota pick up with over 300,000 miles on it. He knows these trucks and likes to work on them. We are having the head gasket replaced, everything flushed, all the pumps checked, tune up, etc. We are replacing all of the tires as they are over 10 years old. We are looking a removing everything having do with propane and running everything from a generator. We are having the range removed and replacing it with a microwave/convection oven and a couple of restaurant quality hot plates. We will be putting in an electrical heater. Has anyone out there done this? Any advise you can give would be apprecated. Thanks, Bob
  10. Hello. We just bought 1983 Toyota 21' Sunrader from a farmer in Yakima, Washington. He has owned it for 24 years. It is in really great condition. Does anyone know where I can buy an owner's manual for the Sunrader. We got a manual for the Toyota but the prevoius owner is 87 (yes 87) and can't remember where the Sunrader manual is. Are there any forums for Sunrader owner's only. Thanks in advance.
