Hey! I am traying to start up my furnace in my 1983 Sunrader for the first time ( My first time its the original suburban furnace ) Ive checked all my propane lines for leaks and have two full propane tanks. What I have done to try to start the furnace is obviously open propane tank, put the thermostat up to a higher temperature and flipped the little off switch to on position. What happens is i get a hum from the furnace... thats it. I do not feel any blowing air, hot or cold coming through the vents. Is there a problem or am I not using it right? Does the furnace need to be manually lit? What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Propane Tank Replacement Questions In Sunrader

I got my propane tanks reinspected and got a sticker. Guy said there in great shape especially for there age. I want to now check my system for leaks. I got myself a manometer and watched a few YouTube videos on checking the system by plugging the manometer in the stove... Is this all of your strategies? Does doing it this way check all of the system or just the pipes to the stove? How do you check your propane system for leaks? -

Hi, I recently acquired 83 Toyota Sunrader. I have never owned an RV in my life so if this question is dumb sorry in advance. There is a plug at the back on the outside passages side of the Sunrader that is draining water as I use the water. I am guessing it's some sort of overflow but I have no clue. Pics are below can anyone shed some light on what is happening here?

So it looks as though I will have to have the ubolts and plate made as no parts stores around me have them (unless you can think of a better place to try) the info they need for the ubolts are... "inside to inside"? "length of rod"? "Diameter"? "Bend"? Are you able to give me any of this? Just want to be sure cause they are about 70 bucks to have made

That does seem to be the best deal even though the prices are outrageous! I could buy five uprights for the price of one horizontal esh. I'll have to stick with getting just one for now. Thanks for the link -

Propane Tank Replacement Questions In Sunrader

Thanks for the reply, Are these that sit on there side 20 lb tanks? My compartment is quite obviously built for two 20lb tanks that look exactly like bbq tanks. Where can I find the ones that you mention lay on there side? I've researched quite a bit but no luck thanks! -
In doing a little research I found that the 4x4 springs are SOA (like your suggestion Spring Over Axle) i am very interested in going this route even though mine is 2x4. I could use the clearance for adventures however would the front need to lift as well? They are torsion bars up front right? Basically how can I make mine look like this? http://www.pouringrain.co.nz/90_4x4_sunrader_004.JPG I figure now is the time to do it if ever there was one. Thanks again

Hey all, I have recently acquired an 83 Toyota sunrader. Wouldn't you know the tanks were never replaced! They are to old to use obviously. Looking for suggestions... Is Blue Rino ( and similar pre filled companies) ok tanks to use? Every propane tank I have come across thus far all say "tanks need to stay upright at all times" in the warning labels and in the Rader they are lying down on there side... Are they just saying that to protect there butts or is that a thing and I should be looking for tanks I can lay on there side? Also tanks bump around a bit more in an rv than they do hooked up to a grill. Is that ok? Are certain tanks designed to be "roadworthy"? Lastly as the propane tanks are in a compartment in the side of the vehicle ( not accessible from the inside ) I had the thought to put a carbon monoxide detector in the propane tank storage area so if a leak happens in there I'll know right away... Good idea?

Hi, I have a 1983 Toyota sunrader 22-R 2x4. I managed to source out a 1990 6lug full floating axle that came off a 1990 Toyota dully pickup. Myself and a friend ( way more of a mechanic than I ) are going to do the job. What do I need? I am told a universal pinion-flange adaptor and seal... Where can I get this? Car part places are totally confused. Anything else? Am I going to be welding? Are things going to line up ok? I don't have the luxury of pulling it all apart and leaving it for a while as its being done at a friends house and I'm hoping to have everything needed to get the job done.
