  1. My battery is new but as I posted on another thread the pump switch is draining my battery. Not the pump but just the switch being on drains the battery very quickly.
  2. Sorry, accidentally posted twice and can't find any way to delete a post.
  3. I have a simple solenoid type battery isolator. After draining my coach battery I put the voltmeter on the isolator and found that it was close to 14V going in and only 11 on the coach battery side. I expected it to be the same on both sides since when the solenoid is energized it just connects them together. Is there something I'm missing or is there excessive resistance in the isolator? When I disconnect the coach battery I get 14V both sides. Solenoid was pretty hot. Is that normal for heavy charging?
  4. Yeah, I am used to Facebook and also another motor home site for Apollo MH's and one for Dodge trucks. They all keep me posted by e mail. If this site doesn't do that then why do they have a selection to get notifications by e mail? Why does it even ask for my e mail? I think somethings not working.
  5. I also have an old Apollo MH and I usually leave the pump switch on for the duration of the trip and have never killed the battery. It uses no power when the pump isn't running. If I'm cooking and washing dishes I don't think I should have to turn it off and on every time I open a tap.
  6. This rig is pretty new to me but I've had several dead coach battery incidents. After putting an ammeter in series I found out that the pump switch has a 4.5 amp draw when turned on. That's without the pump on. The new Revolution pump draws 10 amps by itself but I don't see why that switch would draw that much with nothing running. That little red light doesn't draw that much does it? My battery gets pretty low in about an hour. I'm dealing with it by turning the switch off unless I need water but that's inconvenient.
  7. I have to subscribe to a topic I've started? Doesn't make sense to me. When I click the button to Start New Topic I would think that should do it as far as keeping me notified on that post. Same with the button to Reply To This Topic. I don't see any other buttons to subscribe. I've never received any notifications about any topics that I've been involved in although I have no trouble posting and replying. I think I should be getting e mail notifications of topics I'm involved in.
  8. Is there some trick to receiving notifications by e mail? Under my notification settings I selected to receive them by e mail but I've never received any regarding posts I've commented on or started. I have to remember to go back to the site and search for the thread which with my memory isn't a sure thing. So I won't be able to see any answers to this question unless I remember to go back and check.
  9. I tried a search for exhaust and couldn't find anything for the V6. I just bought this 92 Spirit and the muffler is leaking so will need replacement soon. Can anything be done to improve performance and hopefully gas milage? I know that a big free flowing exhuast is not good for low end torque but the original is probably restrictive. I won't be replacing the cats (there's two) so its from there back. What's optimum?
  10. My 92 has a manual light water heater. I don't see air bags but your picture is from the rear and the air bags are in front of the axle. Mine are blown out probably from being run flat. Of course you can run the coach from the battery but if someone has cut the main cable I guess that won't be working. I just looked at mine and the positive lead goes directly to the generator. from there another lead goes to the main breaker box. No generator in yours? Mine is in a compartment behind driver's door. I also assume that the secondary lead to the coach battery is for the charging circuit.
  11. Thanks for the replies. So my engine did have the head gasket work done. Timing belt and valve adjust at 60,000 and runs pretty good but thirstier than I expected. Previous owner implied that it got better than 15 mpg but that's not the case. Don't really want to carry gas inside. So I was hoping there was a bigger after market tank available but then I'm cutting into payload which is already minimal. The 600 lb. load limit includes everything not installed by Winnebago. That means people, water tank, food and any gear you bring along. It has a frame mounted hitch but according to the manual it can't be used to tow anything. Has a bike rack there now. If I put some kind of rack out there it will have to be really light since that weight will be way behind the rear axle. And I didn't realize until after I bought it that it doesn't have a spare tire. There's no mention in the manual but I assume if you get a flat you have to use one of the rear dualies as a spare and drive carefully on one rear to a tire shop. I'm often in remote areas with no cell service where I can't just call for road service. How would you carry a spare? Then again it would cut into the precious payload limit by 50-60 lbs. What do others do? By the way, the recommendation to drive 55 is well taken but if I did that on most highways in California I'm afraid I would enrage other drivers since the slow lane is usually going 70!
  12. Hi folks, I wish I'd found this forum before I bought but better late than never. I've downsized from a 71 Class A Dodge so I'm having to make some adjustments with the Toyota. I've only used one tank of gas but I guess I'm disappointed to get less than 13 mpg. With a 17 gallon tank that's barely a 200 mile range which is just not enough for the remote places I like to visit. Any way to get a bigger tank? Also the payload seems really low. According to the Winnebago manual I can only carry about 600 lbs. So thats 3 adults and not much else or 2 adults and some gear. Guess I'll be using what I learned in my backpacking days about packing light. It's definitely easier to drive than my big rig but I'd like to carry a barbecue and lawn chairs and stuff. Doesn't seem to be room. Is it OK to put some kind of carrier on the trailer hitch? I'm hoping this will work out for me since it's in great shape and I got an excellent price. It has 75,000 miles. How long do these V6's go? I've had good luck with Toyota pickups.
