  1. No shortage of very good running low mile RVs in the US ... They are every place u look .

Gary $6 k will buy all kinds of RV & if you add $4k to it y'all find a reel nice unit .....

If somone thinks doubling a $75 registration to $150 is a deal killer then they maybe should not be owning a rv in the 1st place .. Any fill up at the pump one time is going to be that much .

Insurance at $10 per month is ... Well I just don't understand that bit ... Full comprehensive insurance on a Toyota in Canada is close to $700 a year ... Maybe a bit high but I guess we do pay our kids $18.50 per hour to pack grocerys at the store in town .

How can any insurance company give full coverage on any motor for less than 30cents per day ?

My Toyota bought in the US at online auction ..1990 dolphin .. Very nice condition $2400

My Damon class A bought in CA US & drove home to Canada , 1 owner 36k miles , mint condition except sun damage to lower paint on storage doors ( $40 of paint & a 3inch roller fixed ) $8600 bought online at a cancer charity auction .

I've found my best combination .. My Toyota :) & My Damon :) .. I have the best of both worlds for less than $12k ..

Enjoy the long weekend & let us not forget the fallen that gave the ultimate in life

  2. Very nice unit John .. It looks just like ours we bought about 6 weeks ago

I'm sure you will have no problems finding a new home for it .

We are new to a Toyota camper & up they r small !! ... Especially if you have been used to more room .

We have owned a class c born free 460 ford 7-8 mpg... C class coachman ( lots of room )32ft tag ford 460 7 mpg ... Truck camper never used it ( kids fell out the back as it was on my 1ton flat bed lol .... 36 ft 5th wheel ,pulled with ford 1ton 9-11mpg .....

Our Rv right now is a 99 damon challenger class A no slides , mint condition with a chevy vortec & tow a jeep behind , lots & lots of basement storage & so nice to drive & for some crazy reason I've averaged 11.5 mpg .... Plus our new to us Toyota , our wheels to Central America this winter ... I've even thought of towing it behind the class a !!!

  3. WME .. Could I just put in a extra battery & hook it up to the house battery ... Would the toyota manage to charge both while driving & would the house charger do the same ? .

    I have a class A too & the coach battery's are like 3 hooked together .

    Thanks again

  4. Very true .. No heater fan .. But I will want to run 1 fantastic fan to bring in some cool air over the night ...

How long would a roof fan run for y'all think ? .

It's cool enough at about 1500kms down the coast , but at lower southern areas we need a fan ... No cap'n ground has enough amps to run a ac unit .

  5. WME ...

Our planned trip is south this winter into Mexico ... So sun will not be a problem , as long as we are not in the shade too much ey ..

We will not be long term boondocking , more traveling .. But we would like the backup of a little solar when camp for 3-5 days with no campground hookups .

    Thanks for the input

  6. Thanks Joe

Some great tips you have ... Upgrading to led bulbs sounds a good idea .. What would be the best place to get a deal on them ? .

What is the actual size of your panel .. It seems a very easily stored unit .... The extra cable is a good idea ..

    Thanks again

  7. Looking to add some extra battery storage , possibly 2 deep cycle 12 volts in the rear LPG Storage box , it's a great place , think plastic lined & vented .

I'm looking to add a solar panel up top at the front of the overhead bed area .... I've seen a great deal at the mart .. Anyone have any joy with a solar panel from Walmart ? . I don't want to be going crazy with $$

Just looking to be able to have some lights for the evening & possible running of 1 roof 12 volt fan to move some air ..

Sun will not be a problem on our planned trip into Mexico .. Having power backup will be awesome

  8. What few big $$ items I've bought over the years from ebay I've always called & talked in person to get a feel about things .. I'm in Canada & the deals in the US are very tempting at times & I have flown in & driven home a few times .. In fact Bonnie our Toyota I bought sight unseen from auction site (cranky ape) .. 1990 dolphin in fab condition & passed Canadian inspection with no $'s spent .. We got a great deal . I want to move to California Corbin ... We have snow & freezing temps in Manitoba already . I just love to see any type of anything old in as new condition!! What would you guys say that ebay Toyota is worth ?

  9. Toy home

I've traveled to Mexico multiple times ... Driving is a breeze ... Saying that myself wife & sons 6,9,18,21 are all open minded free thinkers that live life to the max brother ..... This winter myself & the wife & little guys will be enjoying the pacific beaches all the way to Belize .

In the late 90's we bought a old landrover & drove it through England , Europe , Middle East including Iran ,Pakistan & on to India .

  10. I'm also in this thought right now & had just come to the forum to ask the very same questions ... + a bit more . I'm looking at making a front grill guard , as we are driving south into Mexico it helps to have one , stray animals can run out at any time & bring an end to a trip fast . I was even thinking of going up on both sides with 2 poles & running the same back at 2ft above cab level .. Thus giving a front storage platform .. Only for light things like folding chairs & body boards , inflatable kayak . Then on the back a small box with LPG tank & bbq storage ( outdoor kitchen ) ya baby . Luv our new Toyota .. But wish it had a bit more outside storage !!

  11. Thanks Mike ..

Now that's what I'm thinking of doing ... Awesome job ..

We plan / hope to get out of the cold by late December .. We may go down the baja & then cross to the mainland to continue south .

Where do you guys call home & where is home in baja Mexico .. Any good tips for camping

Thanks again for posting the photo ..

  12. Debbit ...

I kinda thinking the same too ...

I looked today & I pulled the LPG tank out , that's a good storage stop too ... I would like to incorporate a larger LPG tank in a upright position someplace & use for both bbq & camper cooking needs ...

These toyota frames don't look to to strong & I'm not sure how much of a heavy load I would want to put on the tail of it .... Especially when your driving is taking into Mexico & we like to explore off the tracks a bit .

Have also looked at a 14g boat outboard gas tank .. Just need to find a stop to build it in .

We don't need to much for our type of traveling , I kinda wish we could take some of our inside storage & have it outside ..

We need more millage range & outside cooking

  13. Hi all

    Hope everyone's having a great weekend ....

So the next step on out mini is to try a little extra storage ...

    Small bbq

    Fold up Chairs

    Extra fuel tank

    2 kayaks

Don't want to go with a trailer ... Also no big rear hitch carrier ...

    What's everyone got ?? ..

I'm kinda thinking of building out of 3/4 plywood a water proof box with lift up lid right where the spare tire Is bolted up to the camper ... Something I could open & fold down to give a cooking area .

    What ya think
