  1. Well, it was the lower vent, and it suspect it was already a replacement because it didn't fasten on very well. I'm still looking for a replacement that will work. I found one that I can remove frame and all, but would rather replace just the door.
  2. I read my last post, not very clear. My AC is an emerson quiet kool 1350. A replacement shroud is around $250. I am hesitant to spend that kind of money on a 29 yr old air conditioner. It works, but..... I'd much rather fit a generic shroud for around $100 but still looking. I've been told this AC doesn't really need a shroud, but it is pretty ugly without it. Since I'm not sure how often we would use AC, I may remove it and replace with a fantastic fan. Experimented today with an LP free standing room AC that vents out a window. (Not window AC) This may work for the couple of times we camp in warm places with electrical hookups. Or, maybe the emerson unit is worth a new shroud. Who knows!?
  3. Thanks for the links! The shroud for the AC is more than I want to spend on an old, iffy AC. Unless we could retrofit a generic one, the cheapest I can find is $220 plus shipping. I think I could spend a little more and find a good used unit. I'm thinking for the once or twice a year we would actually use the AC, we should replace AC with a fantastic vent and use the portable room AC we have already. The fridge access door will be easier to find a replacement for.
  4. Not sure where this should go. we got home tonight, safe and sound. The wind was exhausting most of the two day drive home, and in Alamogordo, I looked back and noticed the cover to the refrigerator compartment was gone. I know it was still there in Santa Rosa, because I checked it when we stopped for lunch there. Then when we got home, I noticed the air conditioner cover was gone. Best mpg was going east, around 17 mpg for a couple of tanks and worst was around 11.5 in terrible wind and lots of hills. The sunrader handled as well as any high profile, 4 cylinder vehicle could. we could cruise a bit more confidently with the power steering too. Night at red rock canyon, OK and dust storm, Texas panhandle
  5. Yes, that matches! Mine is rear dinette. We are still on the road (and having fun) I've just been boiling water as needed. I do want to get it lit though, and will work on it when we get home. Thanks!
  6. We drove from Las Cruces NM to Santa Rosa NM today. Horrid wind, just horrid! The sun raider did waaay better than I expected in the wind! Better than the westfalia even. Very happy with it. Edited to add...really, really happy and SO at home in it. In love, in fact.
  7. We are on our way east on a trip. Just now checking internet. I'll post pictures soon! It does have 3 settings on knob, off, pilot and on. The pilot stays on when I turn knob to run, but the main flame never comes on. We will take a closer look when we get to tulsa. Thanks again for all the input!
  8. Here is a picture of the control part. I probably don't know what model it is. I did see sure urban on the side of it. The manual in the stack it came with is mor-flo and looks nothing like what is in the camper. Thanks so much for the video and links to manuals. I was having no luck finding any! A pic of the water hearer controls
  9. The water heater in my sun rader is a suburban 610 ac3. I'd like to ask if anyone can advise me on the water heater. It looks newer, like a replacement, and the manual I have is for a different model, so no help there. The pilot lights, and stays lit, but the main burner doesn't come on. Could be some part, like a thermo type switch, but I'm wondering if there is something else it could be. Any tricks or suggestions?
  10. Well, that's good to know! What about the metal, carpeted arches that go from side to side? I really like those supports in the picture John.
  11. I did, and they are! We are experimenting with other ways to keep the cabinets supported. I don't like the bannister spindles!
  12. Thanks. I do enjoy it! There is this business in my town, a sort of sporting/RV/military salvage second hand barn full of stuff lots of odds and ends to root through. Yesterday I found an RV table that is exactly what I wanted. It even extend to take a leaf should we need a bigger table. $50. I got it, some marker lenses and a couple of other odds and ends. Anyway, I believe I will be giving the white table away to anyone who can figure out how to get it. As to the colonial style braces in the picture, I removed one and saw the cabinets are wanting to sag down from the ceiling. I don't know if driving screws into new spots will keep them from coming down, or if the supports are the best idea.
  13. I just bought a toy home in CA. The seller had the paperwork right there. We filled out a bill of sale, I filled out a form he had there that was state issued stating that I was buying it and would be re-registering it (I don't know what that form was, but I think it allowed me to use the plates for a short period of time. We each signed the title in the proper places. I had my insurance add the toy to our policy and they emailed me the proof of insurance. The vehicle was smogged and registered, so legal and clear title, I don't know what we would have had to go through if it hadn't been. Today I went to NM DMV and got our Land of Enchantment plates. No problems at all! Whew. Someone has told me that Triple A will help its members with the proper way to buy cars in other states, I don't know if that's true, though.
  14. Thanks! I put the table back in tonight and like it a lot better now that the back is cleaned up. Probably will continue to use it. My husband thinks the columns were an add on and a bad one at that. Glad we should be able to take them off, and they don't serve much purpose. I like the sink cover too. Since my slide out pantry is in pieces, I put the sink cover, cutting boards and drain mat in that space. But it would like to rebuild the slide out pantry, it is a neat idea. Carpet will stay. When we put hardwood floors in the dolphin, they were cold and I was constantly cleaning. Dirt isn't there if you can't see it!! Hope to register it tomorrow, then take off on a trip end of April.
  15. Finished with the first round of decorating. Probably all we'll do for a while. Not fond of carpet, but want to research other options than pergo type floors. The sun rader has real nice carpet and thick padding. Gotta admit it feels pretty cozy. No objections to the oak cabinets or upholstery color either. Don't much like the white fiberglass table and will be looking for something slightly shorter and probably wood. For some reason, drapes felt better in this camper instead of mini blinds. Don't know why, but I think they "work" Some before and after
  16. Some have and some haven't. On the dolphin I did remove the windows because they were smaller. Someone used silicone on the big rear sunrader window, but they did a really nice job. I was working alone on and didn't want to risk a window falling out :0
  17. I've been thinking (while fixing up interior of sun rader) While it may be true that some manufacturers use higher quality materials, the differences in the sun rader I now have and the dolphin I did have were not in the quality of materials. It was thoughtful design. It makes a big difference, but wouldn't have cost much more at all to make that difference.
  18. In refurbishing old toy homes, I have often needed to cut board or wallpaper to fit around a window or in a space with lots of special cuts. On the new sun rader there is worn and stained wallboard at the back. There are three big windows to go around, and some angled corners. I love a thick pre-pasted wallpaper to cover uneven and marred walls. But cutting it to fit around all the corners and windows was really HARD! I was wracking my brain for a good/better way to measure and cut the wallpaper. I had a roll of baking paper in the kitchen. Parchment paper backed with foil. It is perfect. I just cut a piece the right length, pinned it to the top or corner of the section of wall I was cutting paper for, lined up edges, and pressed against the window corners and edges. The paper makes it easy to handle and the foil makes a perfect imprint of where to cut to go around a window or an angle of wall. This could be used for any kind of wall template one would need. It makes it easy!
  19. I didn't know there was such a difference. I do like the layout of the dolphin better because it had windows on both sides.
  20. More comparisons. The sunrader has much easier access to work on stuff. The water lines are easy to follow and repair, the freshwater tank is easy to see, visually inspect. The shur flo is right next to the water tank and the water heater next to that. All can be worked on by lifting the seat of the dinette seat. All is well built and well designed. I can't really say the same was true of the dolphin....
  21. Here is what the manual shows. All looks like the drawing, except there is no knob on the brass gas fitting. Ah well, I'll keep trying. Thanks!
  22. We are working our way through our new to us sunrader. We have all the manuals for it, and the furnace manual shows a gas valve that just isn't there on our furnace. The instructions say to "turn the gas valve to "on". There is NO on /off valve where they show. I can't find any other instructions, showing a different location for said valve. Any advice?
  23. The AC isn't working yet in the rader, so can't compare the road noise. My husband goes on the roof, I haven't. He said the dolphin roof is pretty sturdy, being careful of where he walks. He looked at the rader roof, looks good but he hasn't been on it yet.
