  1. Hey All,

On the Sunradar 21 ft that I bought it had the Thunderer Ranger 101 185r14C from Les Schwab.

Back 4 duals DOT- KAARA011212 FRONT DOT- KAA7A0182711

SO if I have read the threads corectly the back tires (duals) were made in the 12th week of 2012.

The front tire were made the 27th week of 2011. Both of these dates are with in the 6 years. I have seen some mention of the tires from Les Schwab being junk, so some direction here would be appreciated. If I do not have to buy tires now it would be a good thing, I am already in the doghouse for the cost of this project.

  2. Hi All,

21 foot Sunradar is being worked on in Arnold, California. May have it roadworthy by August. My wife calls the rig Missy Porn, because I am on this site so much with the computer in my lap.....she is always asking me if I am on Porn sites!!!! "No just cruisin the Toy website learning something new!!!"

  3. Hey All,

I am busy on many fronts in my 86 Sunradar. Put in a WFCO 8955 Converter/Charger, but I have not been running the Sunradar this winter and both batteries are suspect so I put both on a charge. The charge seemed to take and I thought I was in business. We were able to to check all the connections in the panel to get it set up, the lights worked off just the battery for the first time since I have owned her (since Sept.). I wrote earlier about the isolator, didn't end up getting it but did get a new circut breaker (right next to the isolator on the inner fender), that seemed to get the power moving thru the isolator and onto the coach battery....success. So the new power generator is in and we are having great thoughts, well we woke up the next day and both batteries we dead again. Now I don't know if the converter has a short and is draing both batteries or if they are both suspect and I should just get new batteries and go from there. I have had the voltmeter on both and when they were charged I got 12.4 but then both have gone under, I charged them again, the truchk battery came back to 12 but the coach battery is toast and won't come back from the dead.

I will take some pictures soon of the interior, I am five shades of blue, all the windows have been taken out and re-sealed, new louvered shades (blue), new fabric covered the cornices (valences), new privacy curtains bed over the cab, all the doors taken off in the coach and masked and repainted blue glossy, the project is coming along!!! I just about have it pretty enough, that the wife will get in it!!!

I know I rambled sorry, should I just get two new batteries and start from there??

    Thanks, Redbeard

  4. I put in two more windows today, and this time put the butyl putty tape (grey) on the window instead of on the Sunradar outside wall . I watched a video about putting in windows and they put the butyl tape on the RV wall one eighth on an inch from the window cut out. I think these must be the directions for other than Sunradars. Putting it in the window channel worked much better. I may have to redo the big window again. Linda, did you get a chance to look on the rear window with the red handles??

Has anyone in California gone to a boat repair and had them fill in the front wrap around windows with fiberglass??? I have seen the thread about this, but do not know if it was done in California.

I live up in Arnold and the weather here in the mountains is gorgeous!!!! Get out there folks!!!

  5. Hey All,

Couple of questions.... I have taken the windows out and painted the Sunradar on the interior. Now I am putting the windows back, I got one inch butyl putty tape, I have cleaned all the windows or the old tape, but when I put the large window in the back the way the window seated it did not seem to include much of the top tape line...only about a quarter of an inch. When I was trimming away the excess I left about a quarter of inch from the window frame and pushed it back toward the window frame. My question is should I cut it all back and put a bead of silicone caulking over the top of the window? If I leave the butyl putty tape will it just collect dirt??

Question number two, the back side window on the drivers side has two red handles and when you pull them the window can hinge outward....it kind of looks like an emegency exit, but those red handles do not seem to seal very tightly. When I put the whole window back in I used the excess butyl tape to seal up that crack. Again the butyl tape open to the elements, will it just collect dirt and make a mess??

    Thanks for the help.

  6. 86 Sunrader lives in Arnold, California. Winter is over diving into project purchased this fall. Windows are out and interior doors and drawers to come out today, taping today and paint this week. Retired from teaching last June hoping to have rig all checked out ..........not sure when...... read this site nightly and learn something nightly....cannot always remember where I saw it......love the site!!!!!!!!!!!.......my wife says ..... "you lookin at porn???" ........"Yeah sexy Toyota airbags are DD!!!!":).

  7. Hi All,

This is my first questioning post? I have removed the windows and the rot does not seem bad, but the wood is not glued to the fiber glass on the outside at all....should it be??? It is connected to the paneling but not the outside fiberglass. If the plywood is rotted and I cut it out, should I glue it back to the fiberglass???? If the plywood is in ok shape, will it give enough structure to tighten up the windows??? If the wood is suspect at all, should I cut it out?? It doesn't look like such a big deal looking at it. What glue to attach it to the fiberglass of the Sunrader.

    Thanks for the help.

  8. Hey Fred-

I am 62 and my wife is a lovely 61. We retired last June from teaching for 20 years overseas. We taught in Romania, Saudi Arabia, China, Indonesia and finally Nigeria. We bought our 21 ft Sunrader this fall and I am reading all of your wonderful posts and educating myself in the world of Toys. At present my windows are removed and I am moving to the doors (interior) and drawers to take them out and then an interior paint job. Our rig is a 1986,,,

    Les IS MORE

  9. Stamar- If your "offense" has been 20 years ago......It is quite fun....they will do a computer search....and later they will come back and say, "The country of Canada considers you REHABILITATED!!!" MY WIFE TURNS TO ME AND SAYS, GOSH A WHOLE COUNTRY CONSIDERS "US" REHABILITATED.....COOL!!!!" We were both laughing and the Border Gaurds frown let us know we better leave before he changed his mind. So if you have been law abiding for a number of years.....you too can be told you are rehabilitated!!!!! Go for it!!! Les and Jane......Rehabilitated!!!!!
