  1. Congratulations on your motor home.

We have also found that the speed at which we travel makes a big difference in gas mileage. We have a 6 cylinder and we get from 11 to 15 mpg. If we travel on the freeway at 60 to 65+ we see 11 mpg.

Last time out, a couple weeks back, we decided to take the side roads home which kept us at a max. of 50 mph. We were amazed to find that we used 15 mpg (first time in the two years we have had it). We also saw some beautiful farmland and went through neighboring communities that we seldom see. We have decided that in the future we will to try to find alternate routes to our destination, As we have been plotting future trips though, we are finding that the additional miles required by using an alternate route can use up the "saved" mpg. Always seems to be a balancing act.

  2. We also have a 1990 Odyssey. We have had it for 2 years. We have about 66,000 miles on a second engine. The engine was replaced by the owner before us. Ours had extensive water damage in the corners and was sealed very well before we purchased it. We have renovated the interior and plan to paint the exterior this summer.

During the interior renovation we found soft wood in the front overhead corner above the driver's seat. We replaced the wood and sealed it and it is snug and dry.

We do keep it covered since we live in the Pacific Northwest. Learned that lesson quite a while ago with our first RV

It runs well. The two of us and our two shelties travel comfortably in it.

  3. Thank you to all of you who have contributed information about the bag awning. Because of your help, we purchased one through ebay at the lower price (two years later). We have just put ours together but have not attached it to the motorhome yet. One question: do you feel it is secure on the motorhome rail with a screw on either end holding it in place? Ours is the 8 ft. size.

  4. Andrew,

We are also planning on purchasing a cover for our '90 Odyssey. We have purchased ADCO brand for previous larger motorhomes and have been very pleased with that brand. Camping World and other RV suppliers carry them. They are a expensive.

This time for "Bitsy" we are looking at the Class C cover from www.empirecovers.com. There is an informative "You Tube" video about how to put it on and information about the quality of the cover at the site.

    Hope this helps.

We live in the Pacific NW and moisture is our biggest challenge.
