  1. Greetings This is probably a stupid question that I was actually planning on asking the guy at the RV place when we got our Coachman checked out, but they rescheduled us. Anyway, we hope to take it out this weekend and I'm wondering that if we stay someplace without electrical that doesn't allow generators, how long will the battery last if we only use interior lights and the air conditioner? These things use the same battery as the truck, right? Should I just start the truck from time to time to keep it charged? Thanks!
  2. Thanks. The first thing we had to do is figure out a way to set up a sleeping space for our active 1-year-old. We rigged something up over the cab that I hope works for a year or so.
  3. Hello again Well, I ran it for 3 hours today and it cooled okay. I wonder if by running it on propane it got the freon (if that's what it uses) or whatever, moving again. Anyway... glad it works, and thanks so much to everyone for the input! You'll hear from me again! Johan
  4. We're nowhere near the starting point that a lot of people were at, and I'm sure that many would like their "after" photos to look like our "before" but we hope to update the interior and make a few changes. I started a blog for family to follow our RV adventures and posted interior before photos there. Thought I'd put the link up here too http://thedoverguppy.wordpress.com/
  5. Well to update. I ran the fridge for about 2 hours, but no cooling except the freezer. Then I ran it on propane and the whole thing cooled in about an hour. I'd say it's just a switch, but then why does the freezer cool down on electricity? Perplexing.
  6. Greetings Well, I posted an introduction yesterday and have my first question today. I plugged The Guppy into the 110 to run everything for a while. Luckily the A/C works great. But, the refrigerator does not seem to be working. The freezer is cold after running it for about 90 min, but nothing on the fridge. Does anyone have any hints, since part of it seems to work? The electric power knob is really hard to turn, so I think my first try will be to take it apart and get it moving freely, but other than that? Are these things replaceable with new units, or do I have to start scouting around for one? Thanks in advance.
  7. Hello Everyone I thought I'd say hello. My wife and I are new owners of a 1984 Coachman. I've been trolling on the board for a while and have already learned a lot. Our rig, named "The Guppy" seems to be in pretty good shape. It's got 75,000 miles on it, but I have every service record, down to the oil changes, and even have the original owner's manual. Everything works, though every seam on the thing is oozing with caulk. Of course the first hard rain that we had it parked, there were some very minor leaks that I may or may not have a handle on. We'll see. Our goal is to restore it to take no more than a few hundred miles from home to various music festivals, and Punkin' Chunkin! (We are in Delaware) I'm a transplant from California and once we make sure that all the power, gas, water, tanks, etc are in good shape (again, they seem to be fine but we're getting a check-up next week) we hope to redo the interior. I'm taking as inspiration the interior of a party bus that would come to events we would go to in California. http://www.dodobus.com/TheBus.html I'm handy enough to do most of this stuff myself, and luckily employed well-enough to pay for some of it when I need help. I'm sure I'll be lurking around, or even asking questions here in the future! Thanks for being out here!
