  1. there is a guy, don't have a name, that may be putting up his 92 on the market in modesto. he says he will only use the modesto bee to list it. you can check the bee's classifieds on line. sounded like a deal at 4000

  2. i have 90 dolphin, but same engine etc. any words of wisdom about caring for the engine/trans?

  3. i'm in the central valley too, maybe a little north of the actual. just checking out who might be in the area to ask things of.

  4. Drive a few of both. I did and couldn't get used to the noise of the 4 and haveing had v8 forever didn't like the lack of acceleration. The 4 is more reliable and as i've read bullet proof, but personally traded that for my personable drivability. I felt much more at ease with less engine noise and liked the acceleration for merging. i will be using it for mountain driving so that played into my decision too. there are trade offs in any decision, i was glad i drove both before buying. also i found prices all over the place, be patient if you can. have fun looking.
  5. How do you carry the extra tank? back bumper? storage area? inside?? thanks, randy
  6. question, i keep seeing things that are on the "yahoo site"? where is that? can i go there and look? i know, wrong area for this post )
  7. I've started the installation of a wall unit above the frig. The shelf and vertical came out by just twisting them by hand. the vertical was held to the top and bottom by the flat nails used to attach wood flush. Flat pieces of steel that are wavy, don't know another way to describe. The shelf came out the same way, was stapled through a horizontal 1X1 behind the back of the cupboard. It also twisted out by hand. The back of the cabinet i cut out with a carton opener, the bostisch type, took awhile but worked fine. the next step is to cut a hole to the outside for a vented cover. I'll wait until i get a cover then go for it. It seems solid enough to use a saber saw, I'll let you know how that works. Still nervous about it causing the thin fiberglass sheeting to crack away from the cut. I have two different brand 5000 watt window units and the outside measurements are almost identical, so it should be easily replaceable in the future. One insulation I saw here used a non opening vent, actually they said two covers mounted side by side. If i can find some that will work and look good i'll probably just drill alot of 1 inch holes behind them and let the exhaust a escape through the holes. If it doesn't allow enough air out i can always go back and use the other type and cut the complete hole. My thought is a lot of holes instead of a big hole would maintain more of the integrity of the outer wall. I'm converting the frig to strictly 110 AC so won't have much warm air competing with the air. Will post more as I go. I have taken picture of what I've done so far, not sure how to post them, so if wanted I can send via email to you. You can email me at randydavilla@gmail.com.
  8. thanks. now i'm confident that mine has basically the same siding. after reading problems caused by roof units i'm more convinced that doing the one above the frig is the way to go. thanks for all the pics and info on putting it in, will be looking it over very closely as i go.
  9. as far as having a generator running while going down the road, are there pre-made carriers that can be put on the bumper out side and be able to run on or in?
  10. i'll get the door first. again on the siding, is your fiberglass rigid or flexible?
  11. thanks for the key info, changing the locks makes sense too.
  12. waiter, when say fiberglass do you mean a rigid thick material or thin sheets similar to aluminum which is flexible? mine is thin and flexible. i'm concerned that when i try to cut the thin material it'll crack creating a mess.
  13. both are set up to attach a hose to. the fresh water tank has a separate fill behind a door. so i have three places for fresh water, two with hose connection, one on the drivers side the other on the back left of the spare tire, and a third behind a locked door. btw, any ideas where to get the key for the water door which is shorter than any regular key. it doesn't open storage door or battery door, just the water door. weird.
  14. my 1990 dolphin has two places to connect city water. why? afraid to connect, don't want to power wash the interior. two locations for convenience?
  15. the regular charging system on the truck will handle this load ok? so you can run say a small electric frig will driving? seems like a lot to ask for, only reason i ask.
  16. just got a 90 dolphin. love the air conditioner install. seems i have the same frig cabinet config as you, just up front of the entrance door. question. when you cut into the outside did you have to cut any of the main framing of the coach? you mentioned pictures on yahoo? just learning how to navigate around this web site. randy
