I bought this vehicle with the full knowledge that the trailer hitch was either going to have to be replaced, or I was going to have to install some sort of bionic trailer hitch. I chose the latter.
The vehicle bottoms out so often, that the bottom metal piece of the trailer hitch was broken, and useless.
So, I got an aluminum "cast" to go around the trailer hitch. It was such a tight fit, that I had to grind down both the hitch and the cast. After some serious hammering to get it on (sorry neighbors), I was finally able to get the cast all the way to the end of the hitch.
After that, it was just a matter of drilling new holes and putting the bolt though. i wouldn't suggest this type of fix if you are actually pulling anything, but it works for me since I just have a cargo carrier.

I bought the Surco Universal Straight Ladder. I was nicely surprised with the strength of the ladder once up and installed. The installation instructions were absurd though. They were as vague as possible, almost with intent to get you to make a mistake and buy a new one.

Do you think I need to get an actual lid though for the one vent missing a lid?

I have a 1990 Toyota Odyssey, which has one vent lid that is completely cracked (above back bathroom) and another vent lid that is missing (right above where the table fits in) . I kid you not, the previous owner used a pizza box and black trash bags with duct tape to make up for the missing lid.
So my question is, what types of vent lids are compatible with this Odyssey, and where can I buy them?

I have completed the upholstery on the mattress and cushion cover. The barrel chair seat cover and two drapes are all that remain with sewing. The pictures are updated on the blog.

1) Ripped out all carpet, drapes, and upholstery
2) Fixed soft spot on floor
3) Removed storage space to build bench
4) Repainted all walls
5) Repainted cabinets and added new hardware
6) Re-carpeted overhead bed
7) Waterproofed using Eternabond
8) Built new eating bench
9) Laminate flooring
10) Sewed new mattress cover
11) Sewed new drapes
Things I still need to complete
1) Sew mattress cover for the other futon/bed
2) Sew cushion cover for bench
3) New lids for two vents
4) Redo bathroom and kitchen countertop

Here's an update to the camper renovation. We took it to Pismo Beach this weekend, and it worked beautifully. Obviously, there are some things that need to be updated, but it was a successful trip.

4) Add "bag awning" when I can afford it
