  1. is the tin cover in the back or on the front?
  2. The guy I bought my 1985 dolphin from told me the fridge did not work. I tried to run it off gas and it looked like it was lighting or trying to light through the peep hole but it must have been going out because it was not getting cold. I then open up the outside compartment and pluged the cord from the fridge right into a cord running from my house outlet. The thing worked! It seemed to get plenty cold and the freezer got cold too. No my question is how do I tune up the gas parts of the fridge to get that working. I have found the manual online that says clean certain parts once a year and stuff and I am sure this one has not been touched. Can anyone tell me the common parts that need cleaned on these fridges and where I can find them on the unit? Thanks
  3. My 1985 dolphin I just picked up is missing the door on the back for the rear compartment. Can anyone mesure the size of there door and maybe post a picutre of it so I can see the latch setup and such. Thanks
  4. There are so many variables when it comes to this subject. If you buy a less quaility gas most of the time you will not get your highest MPG compaired to using a higher quaility gas such as shell or cheveron. The higher octane can help if you engine can use it to create more power which could equal more MPG. If you engine can sense that your running a higher octane and advance your engine timing more this will gain you more power. Most of these older engines do not even have knock sensors or good systems that can detect this kind of tuning. That being said the higher quailty of gas can burn more complete and also if you had dirty injectors to begin with the higher quailty gas will help clean them out. Like I said there are way to many variables to say any 87 octane gas will get your more MPG the any 91 octane gas. On another note I will be running my 1985 toyota dolphin on E85 ethonal fuel this trip will at least as many places as I can get it around the country. I have it all mapped out and it looks like I will have to get 3-4 tanks of reg gas along the way. E85 fuel is 105 octane and also burns about 20 degrees cooler then gas. Its a much cleaner fuel that keeps the inside of your motor clean and your injectors clean too. I am installing a converter on mine so I can run straight E85 but you can also mix E85 with stright gas into a stock setup. I usally mix about 50% gas to 75% gas with 50%-25% of E85. This mixture will raise your octane rating in the mid to upper 90's. There are also study's out there that show ethanol in a mixture around 30-40% E30-E40 will get a lot better MPG then with just E10 which is whats just about at every pump in the country. It has to do with the chemical mix of the two and allowing a more complete burn.
  5. I will have to take a pic of the wire I am talking about. Can I get an adapter for that 35 amp plug so that can plug it into my house 110 outlet so I can make sure everything works right now or if I plug this into a regualar outlet will it mess something up?
  6. Thanks for the info guys. I think I am just going to stick to the easy generator idea for now. Maybe later I will try to put 4-5 batteries in the generator compartment and run a 3000w inverter for the a/c but for now I will just stick with the easy project. So the cord that has three wires on it that someone cut do I just wire a 110 vold plug onto the end and if so how do I know which wires go where because their all three grey?
  7. Just bought a 1985 toyota dolphin this weekend and I need to have this thing ready in about a month for a 30 day around the country trip. The generator is missing out of the compartment. Does anyone know what generator came with these ones or should I put anyone in there? I have one positive wire, a fuel line, and a wire with three wires on it that someone cut all inside the compartment. Do I only need to hook it up to 110 power and that will run the a/c or do I need to get a 220 one? Also how many watts is needed to run the a/c unit? Has anyone ever tried running a very large inverter like a 4000 watt or 5000 watt size? Would these run the a/c unit at night?
