[Hearst Mansion campground]

Wanting to get Tinkerbell, our 83 Sunrader, on the road next month or early March. I'm vaguely remembering some friend mentioning a campground near the William Randolph Hearst mansion. Has anyone been there? Is it expensive? Do you need reservations?

I have a place on the central Oregon coast with a 55 x 65 driveway and a place inland on the Siuslaw River.

I would like to get a group together of Toyhomes for year round camping in Oregon. I'm tired of associates with monster motor homes that need an aircraft carrier to park on. I go prospecting in central Oregon in the warmer weather and I am starting gold panning if anyones interested. Seems like there's a ton of toy homes around here but I doubt they're organized. I am co sponsor of a successful social group that does theme pot lucks, hiking, kayaking, concerts, etc. I would like to do the same for Toy RVing.

Hi, I'm Ron Swanson and my wife is Barbara. We own an 82 Sunrader, purchased about 15 months ago in Bend (our home). While we a little too old for year round camping -- we're in our mid-60's -- getting together during the summer would be a lot of fun. One of our favorite camping spots is Union Creek Campground near Baker. I bring this up because nearby Sumpter is good gold panning territory. Plus there's some great restaurants and the ride into Baker is an easy 20 miles. The city of Sumpter, by the way, provides showers with ample hot water for 75Cents.

I know of two Sunrader owners living in Bend. One lives in his rig year round though I think he takes it south during the winter months. The other has just finished a total refurb of an '86. There's probably a half dozen Dolphins in town.

There's another Sunrader in Salem. He camps in nearby La Pine State Park several times a year. I've talked to him briefly but I don't know his name.

Where's your place on the Oregon Coast? Is it "wet"? Do you rent it out?

[How much does your rig weigh?]

Well, okay, you've all piqued my curiosity about how much my Sunrader weighs. I noticed that one of the first posts mentioned "public scale." Does that include the one at my nearby landfill, which charges $9 for a run-through? I've got this defunct Sony TV (the manual for it says that it weighs 103 pounds) which is just hankering for a rapid descent into the disposal pit. And of course I know how much I weigh. So why wouldn't I go this route and get the vital information?

My spouse and I have just finished our second nice trip in our 82 Sunrader. We knew when we bought it late last summer that the frig only worked on propane. But how do we know what else it's supposed to run on? What's does a 2-way frig mean? What does a 3-way frig mean? I've seen these terms on RV web sites and need some help with basic definitions. Also, if someone can explain these terms to me, how do I know if my setup is 1-way, 2-way or 3-wAY? Is there a code on the unit that tells me which? Or some chunk of the frig manufacturer's serial number on the unit?

Nope we don't go down the road with the propane on. We just keep a small block of ice in the bottom of the frig. It keeps everything cold for more than a week.
