  1. You could always try to fix your. One thing that I've seen work is remove it and place it upside down for 48 hours re invert let sit another 8 and it may work again. Also check the burners it could be a simple repair/fix and save yourself alot of money.

  2. I wish I had an atwood then lol but I have a suburban which uses a rod :( as it's not an aluminum tank like an atwood. Yeah the odor and taste get bad if I don't flush it every 3 months with peroxide. So that's why I'm trying to figure out which rod is best but no one can seem to tell me, (dealer suggested just replace the tank for about $400 but I didn't like that idea).

  3. Ok so my anode rod isn't dead yet I just drained and flushed my water heater tank like I do every year or so but I'm thinking about changing types. I have the magnesium one and was thinking of swapping to a zinc one I'm told it will be beter in my system and keep the water smelling beter longer. They say they will fit but they look very short compaired to my current one. I also thought about the aluminum one but not sure the benefits of that. Any thoughts or ideas?

  4. I work nights so I leave home at aroud midnight and drive for a couple hours and then stop at a rest stop to sleep. I then get up around 9am so there's no traffic when I drive I get to places around noon which is check in time and feel much more rested then leaving early and fighting traffic or at night and paying for an extra night in a campground..

  5. I'm looking into this myself to make camping more convenient (like the always seeming oops I forgot something and need to run to the store). I'm toying with welding a hitch on the back or front then buying a small scooter or a trail 90 and a hitch carrier seems easier then buying a small trailer. Does anyone have any pics of motorcycles/scooters they carry and how to do it?

  6. I fill them horizontally and don't pull the preasure reliefe pin. I'm fairly good at judging it from practice. While camping at 4am I ran out of propane in my heater so I decided to replace it. I unknowingly had a bad tank from wal mart which leaked when I plugged it into my heater ( I later found a small hole in the neck of the tank, I then lit the heater not knowing and was engulfed in a large fireball (we were in a tent at that time) was scary putting out the fire in my clothes and my leg/arm hair was gone. Lesson learned look listen and smell before lighting all appliances.

  7. I do alot of boon docking and use aroud 4-5 small tanks a trip so I fill the small tanks all the time. As with even driving out old rigs we face danger that's life but you can minimize the danger. Thouroughly check the tank before filling and after I submerge min in a sink of watter to double check for leaks. I also fill them less then full so although they don't last as long I feel safer. The only critical failure I've had with a small tank was with a new one from a store that went boom (not one I filled)... Also do your home work and decide if you feel comfortable with the risks and rewards, I save around $20 a trip by filling my own tanks which is like a half tank of fuel for my rig.
