  1. COUNTDOWN: It's just one week until the Fall Mid-West Rally in New Albany, IN. From the description of the town's Harvest Festival it looks like we will have a terrific time! It's not too late to make a reservation to join us. (We had one more cancellation.) Please read all the details previously posted in this thread and then call us to let us know you will be coming. Your reservation is to be made directly with the RV Park by sending them a check.

Don't be shy -- almost all of the attendees for this rally are first-timers. See you soon!

  2. The Fall Midi-West Toyota RV Owners Rally is only two weeks away. We have had 3 cancellations so that means we still have 3 sites available. It is not too late to sign up if you would like to attend. Read the details at the beginning of this thread, then call us to say you want to be put on the list. You will need to send your reservation form with one night's payment directly to the RV Park.

Here is the link to the reservation form:

First-timers welcome -- come join us for the fun!
  3. NOTE: The dates have changed for this Rally -- it is now scheduled a week later, Oct 10-12.

See all the details in the new topic I just posted in this forum section.

As of now we are closing in on having reservations for a dozen (and maybe more) Toyota RVs.

Let us know if you want to come!

  4. October 10-12, 2014 are the new dates for the Fall Mid-West Toyota RV Owners Rally. This is one week later than was previously announced last Spring. This is to coincide with this year's dates for the Harvest Homecoming Festival in New Albany, Indiana, across the river from Louisville, KY. This is a huge street festival with all the expected activities -- food, crafts, and entertainment. Louisville, KY has multiple additional attractions as well: The Kentucky Derby Museum, Derby Flea Market, MegaCavern Underground Zip Line, Louisville Slugger (Baseball Bat) Factory, and more. See the links section below.

Because this location is a bit farther south than previous Mid-West rallies, we are hoping to attract more Toyota RV owners that haven't been close enough to attend previously. If that is you, consider yourself invited!

The specific Rally dates are Friday, October 10 to Sunday October 12, but you can arrive early on Thursday if you like.

We will be staying at Add-More RV Park just southwest of the junction of Interstate 265 and Interstate 65, about 7 miles from the Harvest Festival. (See Directions and map links below.)

Saturday morning we will have "Open House" for those that want to tour each other's RVs, and see what owners have done to personalize them. Saturday afternoon is a time to visit the Harvest Festival. We suggest "car-pooling (RV-pooling)" because of limited parking in the downtown festival area. Saturday night, we have reserved the "Barn" at the RV Park for our potluck dinner. Afterwards we will light a campfire for marshmallows (weather permitting).

Sunday morning we will have mentoring sessions for any newbie owners that would like to learn more about Toyota RVing. At noon we plan to caravan with all our RVs to a local restaurant for lunch.

The rate is $32.10 per night -- tax included, for full hookups (30 amp connection) for 2 people. Additional guests, age 12 and up, are $5 each per night. In addition we are suggesting a $4 per rig donation to cover the cost of renting the "Barn" for our potluck. We will "pass the hat" at the event for this.

Please CALL us to be put on the list of attendees. Then pay for your site reservation directly with the RV Park by printing and filling out their reservation form available online, and mailing it to the park with a check or money order for the deposit for your first night's stay (non-refundable). Sorry, credit cards are not accepted. The balance is due in cash or check upon arrival.

Please find and print the reservation form here: http://www.addmorervpark.com/form.html

As usual, we expect about a dozen Toyota RVs. The first 12 paid reservations are guaranteed a campsite with our group. After that you may be put in a spot in another section of the park. Currently we have 9 reservations, and therefore only a few sites are still available. Please call us right away if you think you want one.

If you are new to Toyota RV Rallies, don't be shy -- we always have several first-time attendees. Call us to have your questions answered.

Please note: We searched quite diligently for an appropriate Rally location reasonably close to the Harvest Festival and Louisville. Although there are some RV parks that are closer, they are not so nice. After careful consideration, we selected this one as best meeting our needs. It is reasonably quiet with lots of trees, great Wi-Fi, decent restrooms and laundry, a lovely pond, and an indoor rec room with tables for our potluck. However it does not permit bike riding, has a size limit for pets of no more than 30 pounds, and has no playground. Although the policies of this RV Park are a bit more restrictive than some, it IS a nice park, and specifically it is the only nice one that is close to the Festival -- all the others are at least 30- 45 minutes away. Therefore it's our best option, and hopefully our members will find it agreeable. We will work with the park's policies to create a rally experience that is enjoyable for us all.

Now, please call us when you've read this to say if you are interested. If you get our business voicemail (health center), leave a message and we will call you back.

  5. The Fall Mid-West Toyota RV Owners Rally will be in New Albany, Indiana -- October 3-5, 2014.

Please note! Reservations are needed by July 31 to hold your spot!

This RV Park is only holding 12 sites for us for our rally -- that's all!

If you want to camp with us, you must MAIL IN your deposit check for $32.10 right away. (If more than 2 people are camping with you, add $5 per person.)

If you need to cancel your reservation, your deposit can be refunded if someone else in our group needs your spot -- which is quite likely.

After July 31 any unreserved sites being held for us will be released to the public.

Yes, this deadline for reservations is relatively early compared to some of our rallies.

If you are considering joining us, you need to send your check to them now. Use their form, printable from their website (see details below), including your arrival and departure dates. (Early arrival on Thursday is fine.)

BE SURE TO PUT ON THE FORM THAT YOU ARE WITH THE TOYOTA RV GROUP!

Then please call us to say you have sent in your check and will be joining us.

    See you there,

  6. Yes, there will be a Rally in Quartzsite in 2015. Same time, same place. Everything as described in the previous announcement will be pretty much the same.

I apologize that my phone was inactive while I was out of the country for several weeks, unbeknownst to me. It is working again now.

Reservations for next year's Quartzsite Rally will start to be taken in the Fall.

Glad to hear you are interested. We always have a great time.

    See you there soon!
    Tika,
    Rally Coordinator
See the first post in this thread for all the details:
  9. Join the TOYOTA RV RALLY in Quartzsite, AZ - Jan. 17-20

The next Toyota RV Rally is coming up soon in Quartzsite,

Arizona. The town is located on Interstate 10, 20 miles east of

the Colorado River (border with California). Reservations are

    now being taken.

The dates are Friday, January 17th to Monday, January 20st.

This is during the first weekend of the huge RV show which is

held there every year. Some folks in our group will be arriving

as early as Thursday the 16th, and staying for the entire 10-day

    show.

The RV show is a really fun event with free admission. A giant

tent is erected with hundreds of vendors that cater to RVers. In

addition the rest of the town turns into one giant swap meet.

There are specific sections for antiques, gems & minerals, and new

merchandise. Plus multiple other vendors in every possible corner

and location. If you like to shop for bargains, bring lots of

    spending money.

We will be dry camping together at an RV park relatively close to

the show grounds. We're going to be close enough to walk to it.

That way we don't have to break camp each day to go to the show.

In fact, RVers coming to it from outlying areas have to park even

farther away than where this RV Park is. (The distance is only

    .2 miles.)

In addition to the RV Show and Swap Meets, this is a great chance

to meet other Toyota RVers, and see what they have done to per-

sonalize their "Toyhouses." We will have an informal "Open House"

on Saturday morning when folks can visit each other's vehicles and

see the various ingenious things that owners have done to make them

more livable and unique. This is always a highlight of our Rallies.

We're expecting about 2 dozen Toyota RVs again this year. The

park's proprietors are very amiable and happy to help us save

enough space for all our rigs. The fee for a 24-hour parking/

camping spot is only $7 per day. (One could easily spend a good

percentage of that on gas each day just driving around to

alternately find a parking spot and then a camping site.) In

addition there is a one-time reservation fee of $8 to participate

and to have us save you a spot with the group.

Please make your reservation by phone, rather than email. When

you call to confirm you are coming, you will get the specific

location of where exactly to find us among the tens of thousands

of RVers that will be there. We did say it will be a HUGE event,

    right?

On Saturday and Sunday nights about 6pm we will have a community

potluck dinner. We eat whatever food shows up. Folks who

aren't camping with us are welcome to come for just the dinners.

Besides some food to share, please also bring lots of firewood for

the campfires we'll have every evening.

Where we will be camping we will not have hook-ups or restrooms.

(This is because none of the RV parks with hook-ups will take such

a large group reservation that weekend.) Therefore it is best to

arrive with your tanks full of water and propane. Generators are

allowed. Water from a faucet and porta-potties are near the park

entrance. Showers, propane, and a dump station are available within

    driving distance for a fee.

Bikes and/or scooters are great to have to get around in this town.

Pets are welcome, but large dogs are discouraged in the main show

tent. The weather will be moderate during the day (60s) and cool

at night (40s), and probably windy. We hope we won't get any nasty

rains like we had several years ago.

WiFi internet service is available in the RV park for a daily or

weekly fee. Broadcast TV reception is practically non-existant,

but cell phone service is terrific!

To reserve a parking/camping spot with our group in the RV Park,

please call (rather than email) and let us know which nights you

will be coming, and how many folks and pets will be coming with

you. You can send the $8 reservation fee via paypal or check. Upon

receipt, you will get a phone call with a confirmation number, and

the specific directions for how to find us. Upon arrival, don't be

surprised to find that the RV Park is full of bus-sized RVs which

is why, in this first-come/first-served park, it takes some effort

to "defend our turf." The moderate $8 participation fee is for us

to save a spot for you and to help cover the costs of putting on the

rally. The daily camping fee of $7 is to be paid to the proprietors

of the RV Park for each night you stay. (Honor System, please.)

To encourage folks to reserve soon, this Early-Bird price is for

reservations paid for before January 1st. If you wait until the last

2 weeks, the reservation fee will be $10.

If you have never attended a Rally before, don't be shy — we always

have several first-time folks. This is a great way to meet other

    Toyota RVers.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to participate in the Rally with the group, and

camp inside the special section where we will be, YOU MUST RESERVE

A SPOT IN ADVANCE. There is no limit on the number of rigs we

can have, but we are only going to rope off enough space and hold

spots for those that have called ahead of time. Call us at

626-798-4510 to put your name on the list. Call any day 11a - 9p

Pacific time. Leave a message if you get the voicemail for our

business (health center), and we will call you back.

    Yes, it's gonna be fun!

  10. You are accurate that no one has offered to coordinate any rallies recently in the southeast or south central part of the US. There have been volunteer coordinators for the last several years in the northeast, mid-west, northwest, Arizona, and California. Anyone is free to set up a rally at anytime. Perhaps this post will generate some interest. If anyone wants to hear some tips on how to put a rally together I would be happy to talk to you on the phone. After coordinating about two dozen rallies in the last 10 years, I do have some pointers for those that would like to host one. I'm at 626-798-4510. Leave a message if you get the voicemail for my business (health center) and I'll call you back.

NEW ENGLAND “FALL COLORS” TOYOTA RV OWNERS RALLY – Oct. 11-14

Hey folks, we are scheduling another Toyota RV Rally in the New England area in October.

It will be held at Wilderness Lake RV Park in Willington, CT the weekend of October 11-14. This is a peak weekend to see stunning fall colors.

This Rally is at a different RV Park than where we were last year. This park is about 21 miles south of the historic colonial village of Old Sturbridge.

This time, the Rally is being held on a three-day holiday weekend, which means that some folks might find it easier to attend without being so tight for travel time. As usual we will have a Saturday morning “Open House” and evening potlucks on both Saturday and Sunday at 6 pm.

The group rate we have negotiated for hook-up sites is only $39 per night (rather than $45). Sites without any hook-ups are $27 (rather than $30). Call us soon to make your reservation if you want one of the limited number of sites in the section that is being reserved for our group, 626-798-4510.

So that you can see where we are going, attached is a photo taken at Wilderness Lake during this same weekend last year.

Now here is the official invitation with all the details -- for all Toyota RV owners within driving distance:

You are invited to come the weekend of October 11-14 to Wilderness Lake RV Park in Willington, CT. This is a particularly friendly RV Park with attractive campsites and many nearby activities. Expect the fall foliage to be beautiful!

This RV Park has special section called the Safari area which we have reserved especially for our group.

SOME OF THE THINGS WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO:

-- Did I say awesome scenery with fall colors?

-- Comfortable RV sites with water and electric (dump station available on site)

-- Lakefront with free canoes to use and great fishing (no license required)

-- Nice hiking trails through the park

-- Kids' playground and game room

    -- Mini-golf course on site

    -- Horseshoes

-- General Store and Rec Hall

    -- Propane available on site

-- Wi-Fi Internet access in the Rec Hall

-- Cell phone service is mostly OK (except for ATT, sorry).

-- Pets are welcome (on a leash)

On Saturday morning we will have an “Open House.” This popular event is a great opportunity to view each other’s “Toyhouses” and see what folks have done to personalize them and make them more comfortable.

Saturday during the day is available for sightseeing to Old Sturbridge Village, or hiking or canoeing in the RV Park. You can also bring bikes for a great way to get around the area.

Saturday evening the RV Park staff is hosting a “Chili Cook-off” contest followed by a park-wide Potluck dinner in the Recreation Hall that we will participate in.

On Sunday those who are interested can go to the Mansfield Flea Market or other attractions during the day. On Sunday evening we will have our own potluck dinner in the Rec Hall for just our group -- we always eat whatever food shows up. Following dinner, we’ll light a fire for marshmallows -- please bring firewood, and your own lawn chairs if desired.

The RV Park staff may also schedule additional programmed activities to be announced that weekend.

New Owners and Wannabe Owners are particularly welcome to attend this Rally. This RV Park has two camping cabins available to rent, if any folks who don’t have a Toyota RV want join us for the weekend.

Here now are driving directions to Wilderness Lake RV Park, which we encourage you to print out. (Also see the link to a map at the end of this message.)

    From Interstate-84 Northbound:

-- Take Exit 70 for Connecticut 32 toward Stafford Springs - 0.2 mi

    -- Turn left onto River Rd (CT-32 N) - 0.3 mi

-- Turn right onto Village Hill Rd - 1.5 mi

-- Entrance to RV Park is on the right.

    From Interatate-84 Southbound:

    -- Take Exit 71 toward CT-320 (Ruby Rd) - 0.2 mi

    -- Turn left onto Mihaliak Rd / CT-320 S - 0.1 mi

-- Continue onto Lohse Rd - 0.3 mi

-- Turn left onto Kucko Rd - 1.0 mi

-- Turn right onto Village Hill Rd - 1.5 mi

-- Entrance to RV Park is on the right.

For a day trip, it's a short drive to the historic colonial town of Sturbridge (30 minutes). Admission to the Old Sturbridge Village historical complex is $24 for adults (age 18+), $22 for seniors (age 65+), and $8 for kids over age 2. Admission tickets are also good for a second day’s admission within 10 days. Parking is free.

The Mansfield Flea Market is about 15 minutes away, and Six Flags New England (amusement park) is about 40 minutes away.

The normal rate for a 3-day weekend in this RV Park is $45 per night, however we have negotiated a discounted group rate of $39 per night for hook-up sites, and $27 per night without hook-ups. If you reserve for all 3 nights, you will get an additional $5 off, making the 3-night total to be $112 for hook-ups, or $76 without (all taxes and fees included).

IMPORTANT: Reservations for this Rally must be made in advance -- it doesn’t work to just show up. You may reserve for one, two, or three nights. As an incentive to reserve right away, any reservations which are paid by Sunday, September 1 will get a $5 discount. And any reservations paid after Monday, October 1 will need to pay an extra $10 late reservation fee.

Only sixteen sites are available with hook-ups (water and electric) in the section of the RV Park where we will be. If these sites are all taken when you call us to make your reservation, you'll get a site without hook-ups in our area, or one with hook-ups, but in another area of the RV Park. This means if you want to have hook-ups and be near the rest of us, be sure to pay for your reservation early.

Please CALL US to reserve your site (rather than email), 626-798-4510. Let us know what time you will arrive, how many nights you will be joining us, and specify how many people and pets.

Please Note: Your reservation needs to be made through our group, rather than directly with the RV Park. The preferred method of payment for reservations is via PayPal. You don’t need a confirmed PayPal account to make your payment this way if you have a credit/debit card number. When you call us on the phone to be put on the list, you will be given specific instructions about how to send your payment, and where exactly to find us when you arrive.

Please call right away if you want one of the sixteen available sites. We expect to fill these soon and perhaps have a waiting list. If you have not attended a Rally before, don't be shy, we always have some first-time attendees. It's a great way to meet other Toyota RVers. Single owners are very welcome, as well as couples and families.

We always look forward to meeting more Toyota RV owners. Although we are from California, we are going to be in New England then and so we can host this Rally. Consider making your reservation soon -- it's gonna be fun!

  17. Hi, all,

YAY! Summer is officially here and it is time to use our Toyota RVs for what

    they were designed for!

Reservations are now being taken for the next Mid-West Toyota RV Rally to be
held August 2-4, 2013 in the Wisconsin Dells. Please note that we have only a
limited number of sites for our group.
We will be at the same RV Park as last year = Dells Timberland Resort, in the
same section. This is a very nice RV Park, with lots of stuff to do for kids as
well as adults. Free WiFi is included for the weekend. Each site will also
get a discount pass -- good for 2 for 1 at many Dells' area activities. If you
haven't been to the Wisconsin Dells, it is a very exciting destination. There
multiple attractions: including riding "The Ducks" (amphibious boats), the
famous Water Ski Show, several Water Parks, Mazes, the Circus Museum,
Sculpture Garden, Surplus Stores, and many, many more.

The Rally officially starts on Friday, but you can arrive as early as Thursday
(or sooner) and stay 'til Monday (or longer) if you like. Check-in time is 3pm
    and check-out time is 1pm.

On Saturday we will have an "Open House" in the morning for folks to view what
other owners have done to personalize their RVs. In the evening there will be a
potluck dinner at 6:30pm. Afterwards we will have a campfire (yes, with
marshmallows). (Donations of firewood are appreciated!) On Sunday we will all
caravan with our RVs to "Famous Dave's" restaurant in Lake Delton for lunch
    together.

The RV park rates are $45 per night for water+electric hookups and $3 more if
you want a sewer connection too. (Sewer sites are very limited). This is a
very busy season for this RV park and it will likely be sold out for this
particular weekend. Therefore we personally have paid the required deposits to
hold 12 sites for our group, with eight sites still available. To reserve one
of these spots, you need to call us (not the RV Park) to put your name on our
list. To confirm your reservation you will need to send $30 to us via PayPal or
by check. (The PayPal or mailing address will be given when you call to
reserve.) If you need to cancel with more than 72 hours notice, the RV Park
will charge a cancellation fee of $10, otherwise after that, the deposit is not
    refundable.
Please CALL right away (626-798-4510) if you want one of the eight available
sites. We expect to fill these soon and perhaps have a waiting list. If you
have not attended a Rally before, don't be shy, we always have some first-time
attendees. It's a great way to meet other Toyota RVers. Single owners are very
welcome, as well as couples and families.
See here for some great photos of last year's rally. We expect we will all have
    a great time again.

All RV campsites have a dedicated cable TV connection (you need to bring your
own external cable), water faucet, and electric pedestal. Other amenities are:
WiFi Internet access (we will get a three-day pass), modern restrooms/showers,
outdoor pool (it is a nice pool), laundry building, free dump station,
volleyball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, basketball, ping pong, hayrides,
mini-golf, video game room, and other kid-friendly activities.

  18. 33 years together for Tom and me.

This morning I heard the TV weathercaster here in Southern California use the term "bone-chilling." I laughed! It was 34° at 5am, and will be 60°+ today. I don't think he would do well if transferred to any stations back East!
