Good luck in the future endeavors.

Being 6ft 1 myself, the learning curve as far as the AC goes, is the curve your head puts in it.

Just out of curiosity, how old are the tires. If the sidewalls are old enough, they can get mushy and you can lose stability.

Hey ! Whatever works for ya !

I use a poly tarp and poly rope tie downs. Keep it covered all Winter here in Michigan. After it gets worn out from covering the MH, I cut it up and use it for covering my riding lawn mower for the Winter.

Howdy ILIA...
well, could be rings or valve seals. Have a wet and dry compression test done. That will tell you a lot. Hope this helps.

Check this out.

Howdy deggenb...
Sounds like the same problem I had. Got to the point that I built a switch and wire assembly to bypass the starter circuit when it happened. Finaly had enough of the problem and started at the battery, cutting the harness open to see if I could identify a problem. What I found was a solid white feed wire with splices that were corroded with white gundge next to the battery on the passenger side.I cut out the gundge and re-spliced the feed wires. It semed to take care of the problem, but I keep the wire bypass assembly handy.Hope this helps.

That's quite an accomplishment, Sir. Good job well done. Enjoy the wine. I'll raise a glass of dark ale across the miles.

Hello everybody,
I am not yet a Toyota motorhomeowner, but have some questions if ya'll don't mind. I'm pretty into the Toyotas and have looked at a couple now I've considered purchasing, so far late 80's models. The thing is, I really don't want a project / money pit that I have to work on all the time, if you know what I mean. Obviously, some are better taken care of than others, but are even the best ones potential timebombs? This is where I'm hoping for some input from all you wise Toyota owners. How much work are you all doing on these older Toyotas? Do they have a lot of problems (chassis and/or coach)? Can I expect something somewhat trouble free in an '89-'92 model that's free of leaks and all the other usual issues, or am I asking for it by purchasing something this old?
Thanks so much in advance!
Rich
At this stage of the game, all Toys are , or will be projects. The youngest ones are close to 15 years old. If you don't wish to get really involved in repair of an old MH, I would not buy a Toy. Get something within 10 years old and you will probably be a lot happier. My 2 cents worth.

Got to wondering today, do any of you folks carry anything for personal protection in your MH in case of a breakin ?

That 90 -87- Port Kent ferry-89-302 looks promising. Do both of you concur this would be a good route?

So you're going to forego the opportunity to cross the border to enjoy the 'Windsor Ballet'?
Yup !

Just for giggles, check the ground cable on the battery. Some times people get so involved with the supply side of things, they forget that it has to return also. Maybe a bad connection at the negative battery cable connection to the engine or battery. Watch for green gunge in either cable near the battery. Hope this helps.

I'm in Michigan. The first route from Mapquest had me going through Canada. I'd have to get a passport, and that's too much monkey business for me.
-
279 is in VT., as I see now. Mapquest had me going down to Boston, then up north toward you. I've been to Boston. Hate big cities. So, I re-directed Mapquest to other towns along the way. Albany, Concord, NH.,Brownfield. How good is Porter (or should it be PORKER ? Bwahahaha)Rd and 28. This would be an 1100 mile trip for me, so am kind of interested in the terrain.

Hey Tim/ Maineah...
Just a couple questions.
Number one.. How good a road is 279?
Number two.. You don't really have a Pig Street, do ya ?
-
I did this upgrade. Total cost about 5 grand. As Maineah stated, you will need to upgrade the ecm, the injectors , and exhaust to fully develope the horsepower. I run 5 - 6 pounds of boost. Runs at about 1300 degrees of exhaust temp going down the road.I also run premium gas, which I wouldn't have to if I had installed the lower compression ratio pistons instead of stock. I am pleased with the upgrades performance. I get about 13 - 14 miles per gallon at a decent performance level.

Hey all I have the dreaded brake and charge light on in my 1984 pheonix, I did some googling and found out the earlier toyotas have a diode in the alternator or something like that that goes bad. I bought my replacement alternater from autozone and same problem and battery goes dead (not charging) can anyone point me in the right direction i want to tackle this problem saterday. do i need an oem part or is thee a way to fix what i have or???
I had the same problem and it was tha three wire battery isolater. I replaced mine with an old fashioned mechanical relay, and the problem went away.
Hope this helps.

The Long, Crumbling Fuel Hose (Seeking Replacement Source)
in General Discussion

Auto parts store ( Carquest-NAPA-Autozone) will have fuel filler hose in the sizes you need. Also will have exhaust pipe components in the sizes you need. I went this route when my filler hose developed age rot.
