  1. Good question, the converter makes better then battery voltage but that does not explain what it won't do any thing on just the battery. If the fan runs too slow it won't light and that would explain why some time plugging in the camper will make it work but not in your case because it just does not run at all. I think it would be time to look at your converter panel wiring and see if they have not done some thing strange like hook the heater to the converter and not the fuse panel do it your self wiring by a not so good do it your selfer can produce strange results. I would look into grounds too. Do your lights get brighter when you plug in the converter?

Well i do believe that i have found the problem.  I cleaned all the electrical connections and got the furnace to work.  Next problem with it....lol   I think i need a new thermostat, it doesn't turn on till i have it above 80 degrees, and then when it's on 90 it will stay on for about 30 seconds and turn off.  then turns back on in a little while, but never even comes close to getting the camper even to 60 degrees.  Won't turn on at all if i have it set to 80 degrees.  Will any 12v Thermostat work with it???

  2. Without the blower it will not light. Try removing the thermostat and twisting the wires together that will eliminate the thermostat if that does not work you are probably lacking power to the furnace.

I would think that the thermostat is ok, as the unit works fine when i am on shore power.  Just wondering what the main diff is between the two, (battery/shore power).  Doesn't the power inverter/converter just send 12v to the furnace?  or does the furnace have a 110v circuit?  Is there a relay or something that switches between the 12v and 110? or one that switches between the 12v(from battery) and 12v (from the converter)?  Just doesn't make sense to  me why it works on shore power and won't work on 12v...when the battery is fully charged.

  3. I have a 1979 starduster 21ft. with a coleman 4312 furnace.  It seems to work fine when i have the motorhome plugged in.  I checked the voltage at the house battery and it's at 12 volts, lights bright.  Pilot light works fine, crank up the thermostat and nothing happens.  no blower, burner doesn't light..  any ideas what could be causing the problem?  Also would love to find a manual for the furnace.

    thanks

  4. Well i couldn't afford to do the whole roof like that, but your idea came in handy.  I went down to the local auto parts store and bought 3 cans of the spray on bedliner.   I sprayed all the seams on my roof and around my vents.  I put on about 4 coats.  I was sure glad i did, first trip out, big rain storm first night.  The camper had a leak when i got it.  Stayed nice and dry all weekend.  So, thanks for the idea.

  5. I just got a 1979 toyota stardust, it had been sitting for awhile, wasn't running right when i got it.  When i get it out on the freeway it will run down the road at a nice 60 to 65 for about 5-7 miles.  Then i start to lose speed, acts like i am running out of gas.  This happened right after i got it up and running.  At that time, i replaced the fuel filter.  I put on an aftermarket one that is clear. ( i like to see what's going on lol)  The first time it happened the filter was plugged up you could see it.  I then put 3 bottles of b-12, a bottle of heat and some marvel mystery oil in the gas.  Let it sit for a couple of days.  Went out replaced the cartrage in the filter, ran it for about 2 hours....ran great....nothing in the filter...looked clean and was full of gas.   I thought cool, i have it fixed.  Drove it around town all day doing my erands....ran great no probs.  Drove it to work.....np...drove it home on the freeway....went 65 all the way (about 12 miles)....seemed to have good power.  Put new shocks on it yesterday...thought i would drive it to work again and check out the "new" ride feel.  Got on the freeway....it was running great...about 5-7 miles in to the trip...it starts cutting out again....got out quick looked at the filter....looks clean and it's full of fuel.  revved up the motor while sitting there with the hood open...filter stayed full but the motor started acting like it wasn't getting gas again.  one more note.....if when it starts to cut out...i let off the gas and let it idle (which it does sorta)....wait for about 20 to 40 sec i can get it to run for about another 100 feet.  I know this cause this is how i made it the last 3 miles into work this morning...lol   Anyone have any ideas of what to look at next???
