  1. I have been following this thread because I would like to repaint allso, I googled the paints named and found them at Jamestown dist. - they even have a web vidio on using the product incl. prep, plus some comparisons with other simular products, incl. sratch test.

A great information resource for any one looking to repaint. I have used jamestown for boating products and would use them again.

    Thanks for the Ideas!!

  2. All the replies are good, but if it is litteraly a small spot on the driveway, it may simpliy be condensation coming out your tail pipe. Very comon in WI. winters. For every gallon of gas you use it creats 9 gallons of water, and if your exhaust is cold it will condesate in your exhaust and leak out. (this will not smoke) The black is from the water washing out your exhaust pipes. This also makes intersections and areas at our stop signs very slipery.

hello again. have 1979 toy dolphin with 20r engine.it has about 78k on it. when i start it up it will leave a black carbon looking spot in driveway. after 2-3 minutes it stops and no more driveway stains. any ideas. thank you d g

  3. I would have to agree with you, We camped Michigan in 2010 and did not get any "warm fussies from the rangers" and had camp sites the size of parking stall with everyone cutting threw our site, to the point that we couldn't leave our chairs out. (not the vacation I wanted)

Yikes!!!...Don't get me started on Michigan state campgrounds...I love Michigan but hate their State

owned campgrounds, mainly due to the attitude of their Park Rangers. I am a pretty mild mannerred guy,

but a Michigan park ranger got my blood boiling about five years ago. I ended up packing up the campsite

and scraped off the Michigan park sticker on my window and vowed to never again set foot in a Michigan

    State campground again.

    Too late,I am started....

It was at one of the Sand Dunes parks and the issue was over my dog. The family and I decided to walk

to the beach on Lake Michigan by going over the Dunes. Dogs were allowed but after walking for 20 minutes

across the Dunes there was a sign on the edge of the beach that stated no dogs on beach. I was a bit

pissed off since the sign could of been posted 20 minutes earlier. I told the family to hit the beach

and I would pick them up in two hours in the camper. As I was driving into the beach parking lot I

passed a park ranger and he saw the dog in the back and after I parked in the beach parking lot and

was getting out the ranger skidded up next to me by locking up his brakes and started yelling if I was

blind. I asked him what he was talking about and he stated the sign that I passed that stated No Dogs

on the Beach. I stated I saw the sign but I am hear to just pick my family up and the dog is staying

in the camper and it will just take me 5 minutes to tell my family I am here. The ranger again starting

yelling that the parking lot is the beach (news to me!) and he was going to ticket me and kick me out

of the park. At that point I asked who the head ranger was at the park and it turned out to be him.

I was starting to see red at this point, and told him he had two choices, let me get my family, or

ticket/kick me out and he could go get my family. He told me I had 5 minutes to get my family

before he was going to write me a ticket. I reported this to the State of Michigan the next day

and never got a reply back on what the problem was, and have never stayed in a Michigan State

    Park since.

  4. A CPAP is a medical divice for sleep apnea. runns all night, incl a small humidifyer, and computerised blower to keep air in your lungs

70 watts! Nice. And a digital controller? Sounds like a great system. I'd love to see pictures of it.

I made my own "controller" out of $20 worth of eBay parts...switch, circuit breaker, ammeter... good enough for a little 40 watt panel, but 70 watts would instantly peg my ammeter and then, seconds later, poof!, pop the circuit breaker.

but then, CPAP? Sorry, I should know that one,....maybe you could remind me what that means?

Below is a picture of the panel angle mounted on the roof notch of 18' Sunrader

  5. I have used a 15 watt panel in the past, with limited use it was able to trickle chage the battery, was good for week end trips, Unfortunatly I step on it installing my cover and broke it. I installed a new 70 watt SIG panel this spring, it word GREAT, even charges in the shade and on cloudy days, Running lights, water heater, and an inverter for a CPAP. we had no troubles camping for a week with out shore power, It rained 5 of the 7 days, and was cloudy the other 2.

The panel is mounted flat on the roof between the 1st and 2nd roof vents, Panel is about 20" by 40", and I ran the wires down the fridge chimny chase, with a digital controler mounted inside by the dinnet, the down to the battery. I think a good controler is importaint to maintain, monitor, and properly charge the battery.

  6. Toyota Dealership in Wausau, WI

Maineah, We have tried the lubrication route and it begin to work about 90% of the time for about four or five months then begin sticking again. My mechanic said that it is groved inside and that is why it continues to stick. .

Wistoy, I have tried several places but have not been able to find a new one yet. I was told that Toyota no longer makes these. Where did you buy yours.

  7. Been there done that  But don't chinze, buy a offical Toyota cable, your trans. is to expensive to mess it up, I don't know why these cables go bad buy I am on my second on in 5 years and about 7,000 miles, maybe the lack of use? Paid around $100 for a new cable, Siliconed the heck out of both ends befor installation. I hope the latest cable last much longer. I just feel lucky that the cable was still available.

  8. We are in Wausau., We have some great camp sites north, lots of boating,(pontoon), kayaking, rivers and lakes. Oh and can't forget a lot of great food and Drink

If you are coming thru contact me and we maybe can meet up.

Hello Wistoy, where abouts are you located in Wisconsin?

I get up to Wisconsin Dells about 3 times a year.

The last four MidWest Toy-Ins were in NW Illinois near Galesburg,

but the location started to get old. Regarding a Wisconsin Toy-In

for next year, if there is enough interest I would be willing to host,

I will ping the attendees on what their interest is for next year.

    Later,

    Dennis...

  10. Great lights, I have been using this type for 2 years, very low draw, solar panel can recharge the next day even on a cloudy day, I have also found thru PPL Led lights that are shaped like the original bulb for use in the bunk area for the reading lights, and have been very happly with the draw and light levels. Now if only led lights for 110 volt would come down in price I would also replace every light in our home as well.

I have found that the less the battery needs rechargeing directly relates to gas savings when driving, as a larger load on the alt. causes the motor to labor more= fuel use.

  11. Very true, good info.

Premium or higher octain fuel is used in a high compresion engine to prevent spark plug knock or predetonation. With lower octain fuel the engine fires under compresion actual fireing and trying to force the pistion back down on a upward cycle. The higher octain has less energy - less explosive - less energy units. than lower octain to prevent spark plug knock. Less energy less milage, more expensive (it really should be a cheeper fuel).

Also adding as little as 10% ethinal to the gas causes a 15% increase in fuel demand. e85 is 60%. The differance in a multifuel car is a larger fuel pump and larger injectors to handle the increase of fuel.

  12. I had the same problem - fix was to install "weather vain" type vent cover on both the black and gray tanks, this cover spins facing down wind. No more smells driving or parked, I do keep the bath ceiling vent closed as the vent is very close to the black tank

$14.95 at our local Fleet Farm Store - up to $29.95 on the net.

    Dale

PS: I also found a loose conection on the vent stack where it comes down in the closet, Where the pipe makes a right angel to the stool and holding tank
