  1. Awesome weather finally!

We've had snow, rain, and lots of wind until this week.

    I'm anxious!!!

I need new tires for my '84 Dolphin. I've priced them all around here and get from $89.00 (Hankook), to $137.00. It had Kumhos on it when purchased. I'm told that 185R14 8ply tire is an odd ball tire and few companies make it. Does anyone run Hankooks? There's a wide range in price and dollars add up quick when purchasing six.

I'm just asking for some in put and personal preferences.

    I'm ready to Toy around.

    Thanks T.A.J.

Cooper Tire company stopped making the 8 ply tire so you will have to find an alternative. I haven't had to replace mine yet so I can't help you with advice on any other tires.

  2. i just found it! pick it up tonight. i've searched for a year and my biggest concern is the weight i can carry. i'll have 2 adults, a dog and i'd like to put 2 kayaks up on the roof, 2 bikes on a ladder rack and make a fold down rack for a 300lb scooter, ice chest and honda 2000 generator. does anyone know the wet weight (just propane, fuel & some water) of these sunraders?

is a small trailer a better idea than a rack welded to the frame for carrying the scooter, etc?

What kind of RV do you own?

  3. Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found this site, you all seem really friendly and helpful, I hope you guys can help us out :) We just bought a 1988 Toyota Dolphin 22R and while my husband is a car mechanic, we have some RV type questions.

We filled up the water tank, like we were instructed by the previous owner. After it was full, it started leaking from under the RV... we haven't dropped the tanks yet, but I'm assuming we might have to replace something... does anyone know around how much those cost?

When does the water pump run? Does it run consistently while you're using the sink/shower? As of right now, when we flip the pump switch, nothing happens - does it need to be plugged in or attached to a generator to run?

We're completely new to the RV experience... sorry if these seem like silly questions, but I really appreciate the help :)

    Thanks much!

Find the drain valve for the fresh water tank and make sure it is not open. It is usually located outside the RV on the exterior wall adjacent to the tank which makes it an unlikely place for a leak that appears under the RV. If it is closed take the sofa off the wood frame if your water tank is underneath it. There are wood screws through brackets at both ends that are hard to see that attach it to the wood frame. A drill with a magnetic attachment and long phillips bit will give you enough length to reach the screws. When you remove the sofa you will be able to inspect the tank and lines for leaks. If it only leaks when you are filling it up it could be that the filler line is cracked, which can be replaced. You can purchase this line at an RV dealer.

The water pump should only turn on when the water is turned on some where, even though the power switch is on. When the RV is not plugged in the water pump runs off 12 Volts.

  4. You were correct, the antenna connection inside is wired to the luggage rail and works as well as rabbit ears. Thanks for your help.

Though I might add the design of the rail antenna has an impedance of 300 ohms so you will need a 300 to 75 match (radio shack etc.) One lead to the short side of the rail and the other to the long side. (there is a plastic piece in between the two) I'm not a TV watcher so I have never used mine let me know how it works if you hook it up.
  5. Thanks for the information. I'll check it out, especially since there is a wire that appears to be attached to the luggage railing, which I though at first glance was a ground wire.

OK another dumb question. Did you take the plate off and see if there is a wire? My Nova Star uses the luggage rail on the roof as a TV antenna so I'm wondering if yours does the same. Perhaps they ran the wire inside of the rail from inside. I don't think it is a very good antenna but probably better then rabbit ears.
  6. I am aware of that location already. I want to install a roof top antenna and I need to know where the other end of the the wire is located in the ceiling. If anyone has an antenna installed on a 1987 Sea Breeze and it is installed at the pre-wired roof location this would help me find where it is located on my RV. Thank you.

Usually it's in the same plate with a cigar lighter socket, a small threaded post (type "F" tv connector). The lighter socked supplies 12 volt and the antenna connection is next to it.
