In an '85 dolphin, the space heater blower will come on but no gas or ignition. The thermostat works and makes the blower come on and the LPG works the other appliances. Is there a common malfunction to look for or could it just maybe use a cleaning? Thanks. gj

Sounds like a vacume leak but maybe not...When in the cab and driving, the whistling starts when braking (and it sounds like brake squeal) but it continues when stopped. When accelerating it goes away. When looking under the hood, it starts when the motor is idling but goes away when you gas it a little and does not come back. Seems to have something to do with RPM. Sounds like it is somewhere between the valve cover and the fuel injection stuff but can't pin-point it. Pulling the PCV valve or opening the oil fill cap makes no difference except for the change in RPM with the PVC valve. It did not do this when the rig got started from a cold start but started after going down the road a few blocks. Do I have ghost in theis rig? Thanks again and again. gj

I have an '85 Dolphin with the 6 bolt, 1 ton rear and the 5 bolt light duty suspension up front. If I wanted to do a junkyard conversion to the heavy duty axles up front, what years are compatible for the swap? is there a commercial kit for the swap also? Thanks again. gj

So I'm looking to buy an '85 dolphin with the infamous A43D auto trans. Taking it for a test drive of about 10 miles it ran and shifted like new. The odometer shows only 38k! I checked the trans fluid after the ride and it was sort of brownish in color, did not smell bad and really did not feel too hot to the touch. I've never had an automatic before on any vehicle. Should the color be still bright red? So if I replace the filter and change the fluid will that do? I'm not looking for any guarantees as for their reputation to begin with but am I opening a Pandora's Box? Should a trans cooler be put on these rigs also or are they built in? Thanks in advance. gj

Are all auto trannys the A43D model or just the older years? Are they just attached to the 22R motors? Other than an owners manual how could I tell the model #? Looking into buying an '85 dolphin and just learned about the axles yesterday so digging deeper. Thanks.
