  1. hey there - I also have a 22re fi I am replacing my exhaust manifold gasket also. I did find an ebay store that has the manifold with the heat sheil for $23 + shipping - total is $45. This is unbelievable! Here is the link: http://stores.ebay.com/Car-Parts-Wholesale...3QQftidZ2QQtZkm Hope this helps - KP ('86 Dolphin 22re fi)
  2. Thanks - Hopefully we will be running by noon on Saturday. I will go ahead and tap and thread the 2 holes but will also use locktight. The gasket itself should be the easy part. The valve cover gasket will be replaced but I was only assuming about the 4 bolts - thanks for that info. What service manual would you reccommend - I have no books or paperwork for this engine. Thanks KP ('86 Dolphin 22re fi 4 cyl)
  3. The 2 bolt holes will not grip the threads of the new bolts. Are they supposed to screw in? In one of the holes when the bolt is pulled out, there is what appears to be "shavings" maybe from the old threads. Do I need to tap and re-thread and insert the heli-core? that is what I was told at the autoparts store. Anything speacial about the valve cover gasket? How about a manual . . . Chiltons do? 4. Guys - tomorrow I will be replacing the exhaust manifold gasket. I purchased new nuts from Toyota. 2 of the post bolts are out of the block, threads stripped. I purchased 2 bolts at Advanced Auto. I have a hela-core set to replace these two bolts. Is there anything extra from your experiences I need to do. Do I need locktight? Is there a secret to drilling and tapping before the bolts are ready to be installed? Is there a time period that it needs to set before I can continue the install? What is the Torque # I need for these nuts and bolts? Any and all help is much appreciated. KP ('86 Dolphin 22re fi engine)
  5. found a great ebay store that has complete engine gasket sets. Type in ERISTICGASKETS under ebay stores. I purchased a set with exhaust manifold, flange, head, oil pan, valve and some other plugs and smaller gaskets for the same price as just the exhaust manifold gasket and flange from the local autozone. Another ebay store had brand new exhaust manifolds with the heat sheild for $24 + $13 shipping. Locally they were $85 with no heat shield. These were great bargins - thought you guys might want the heads-up - kp
  6. Microwave says 400W and I am not sure of the hairdryer/curling iron. Do not think all will be used at same time. I have been looking at 800 Watt. Do you think this will be good enough? kp
  7. I am looking to purchase an inverter. I will need to power a microwave and possibly a hairdryer/curling iron etc. What will be a good size? Is it better to be direct hookup or just in the 12V outlet? Thanks, KP
  8. Thanks - There are 15 amp fuses on my battery terminals - one was blown - changed it and now the heater fires and runs great without being plugged in to the land power! THANKS, kp
  9. How do I check this? Wiring? I have no books on anything. Thanks KP
  10. Thanks for the info on the generator - My need for this was for the use of the furnace when traveling this winter. The furnace will not come on when the rv is not hooked up to land electric. Can I run a large inverter for electric to operate the furnce? or can the furnce be hooked up directly to the battery for power? kevin
  11. Hey there everyone, I have purchased an 86 Dolphin without a generator. I will need to install one. I do not have any paperwork for this vehicle. Can anyone help me with the recommended generator for this 21' model 900 Dolphin? I would like quiet but also something around the $500 range if possible. It does have the generator closet on the outsdie but is not pre-wired. I assume it has never had one. If anyone has info on this vehicle plase let me know. Thanks in advance for the generator info. Kevin
