  1. Hey guys,

I would like to replace my original seats with some newer/more comfortable seats.

I have spoken to a couple of wrecker yards and I can get a set of bucket seats for $100 - $150 pair.

Has anyone done this before? Can you tell me what car or truck to be looking for that the bolt holes match-up? Can I get power seats and hook them up easily?

    Thanks,

  2. Hey there Joe,

I just went to the sign shop - I have a friend that has a sign business and he gave me some heavy weight vinyl - like they put on a sign, cars, buildings, etc.

This stuff has a 15 year wear rating - no cracking or fading.

I just applied a couple of layers and smoothed out the best I could - no one will see it all the way up on top.

I just returned from a 300 mile trip averaging 60 MPH - checked it today and no cracks or peeling-up.

I think Im on to something here.

  3. Talked to Steve yesterday,

He said there have been 4 more customers from our Toyota Group that have ordered. I will see him this week for a tire cover and ask him if he has any other things that we might need he can supply us with.

Here is a pic I took this last Saturday at the lake.

New Hatch and vent look and work great!

  4. Hey there,

Its always been there. Doesn't look like a homemade bracket. Looks stock.

Its bolted on and on the inside inside the bathroom cabinet. I would like to move it to the left side, but, it would go into the shower. Guess it stays right where it is.

Do you want me to take some pics and measurements? you might have something made real easy.

  5. Hey there HUXZ,

<H3 style="FONT-SIZE: 20px">My engine is fuel injected 2.4L 4 Cyl. (22RE) so, carborator and timing is not something I am "learned" on.

But, I have replaced plugs, wires, distributor, points and also purchased a K&N air filter.

I went 350 miles this last weekend and got 14 MPG. (drove faster than 55)

The best part of the trip was traveling at 67 mph in overdrive most of the time and a few times at 70 mph. Before new plugs, wires and especially the K&N air filter, I was struggling to stay at 57 mph.

I feel confident that the K&N has increased my horsepower. Hopefully this will help in June when I go to Yellowstone.

What do you guys think of Seafoam cleaner for oil and gas?

    Thanks,

  6. Thanks for the advice - I also had thought of that, but had considered doing it when I took off the AC inside so I can re paint the ceiling. The previous owner did not do a good job and did not know that you should tape things off. So, I will be cleaning the edging and all the fixtures as well.

Do you caulk anything on the inside ceiling? Joints, edging, etc?

What is the original color of the ceiling? Mine is off white right now, but looks to be pure white underneath. I have no water damage, but do have 2 small spots where the paint is chipped. Is primer recommended?

    Thanks again,

  7. Hey there,

If you guys have been following my other post "hail, hail and more hail" you will know that I have had to replace the vents X2 the AC shroud and the escape hatch.

I regards to sealing the roof, I have started. Here is what I am using . . .

Elixer brand Plast-T-Cote white Alkyd Fibered Roof Coating.

This is like white cake frosting - I have to put in on with a trowel and go back with a brush.

I have used one gallon and am just over 1/2 way covered. see before and after pics. notice the vents are diffent color - this isbecause of the repairs after the hail.

In addition there has been lap cement reapplied and silicone around windows.

Can anyone tell me if this is what you would have done?

  8. Hey there Moosepucky,

Call Crabtree RV in Alma, Arkansas at 1-877-256-2090 or 1-479-632-0829 and

    select #3 for parts.

ASK FOR STEVE - tell him you are friends with Kevin the Toyota Guy and you are calling about the 17 X 24 escape hatch (he has some already boxed and ready to ship).

He said he will sell it cheap and send it out UPS immediately.

e-mail me if you have any problems.

    Thanks,

  9. Hey there Moosepucky,

The escape hatch is an elixer hinge and 17.5 X 24.5 and he has a few in the box. See my other post to see how I repaired my cover for now.

I have found a few A/C shrouds for my Intertherm Polaris but they have been over $285. There is a guy in Redmond Washington on Craigslist that has the complete A?C with the shroud for $200. Shipping it to Arkansas was not feesable.

Let me know what size your hatch is and I will check with Steve to see if he has what you need.

He has pleanty of elixer hatches and some inside mount rings and screens.

  10. Hey guys - My Toyo was a sitting duck in the driveway! I just wish I had a bridge.

I will have to have new windows and roof on my house and my wifes car has $6K damages.

    Now to Toyo business . . .

I have a good friend who owns a sign shop. I spoke to him today about my A/C shroud.

I was going to have him cut a piece of baked enamal aluminum sheeting the size of my a/c shround and bolt it on. He did not think that was the best. Here is what he suggested . . .

He gave me some dark brown heavy gauge vinyl w/ 15 year crack and fade warranty. I did mention he gave it to me, right. He said to apply a small amount on the inside to work the holes, but to put 2 layers on the outside making sure to press together the vinyl. THIS STUFF STICKS TO ANYTHING.

So after it was done, I carried it out and remaounted it. I must say, I am impressed with it and if it holds up it will make me smile when I see it and realize that it could have cost $300 to replace.

Note: I even got creative with my razorblade. Like the Dolphin?

Next - total roof seal and lap cement, then bring on the rain (but no HAIL!)

    Thanks Guys!

  11. Hey there Guys,

Started my road to repair today - going good! My local RV dealer had the vents for $15 each, the escape hatch for $8 and the refrige vent cover for $7 (old inventory). Still looking for the A/C cover - found one new for $265.

Here are some pics from today - will be lap sealing tomorrow and getting ready for full roof seal job.

Keep me in mind if you see an A/C shroud for in Intertherm Polaris.

  12. Hey guys - by now you might have seen on the National news about the Hail Storm we had yesterday in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The top of my Dolphin is now in need of vent lids, refrig lid, and AC shroud.

Vent lids I can find OK - but - I am in need of a shroud for an Intertherm Polaris AC and a refrig shroud that looks like a little baking pan.

Any help with this is appreciated.

    Thanks

  13. Hey there Jewel,

Another suggestion is this: I was not about to pay the $75+ for a rack that attached to the ladder, SO, I made my own ('cause i'm cheap)!

I went to the local Disabled Vet Thrift Store and purchased a bike rack that fit on a car (on the trunk lid and has straps that steady it to the car) for $15. I then took the top straps off, folded the support bars together and placed it on my ladder. I attatched it with srew-on pipe clamps and put a 1X piece of wood painted to match at the bottom for more support. I then took black electrical tape and covered my clamps so that there would not be any hands or legs getting scratched or cut. I have had three bikes on it and no problems.

This was a simple soulution to an expensive problem - and it works and looks great!

Hope this helps - see my pics.

  14. hey there 84geterdone,

My duelies are sized: 195 75 R14 I took the pics after the winter/cold nights. lost some poundadge. Have since re-aired and have @ 2" between the tires.

The tires have approx 4K on them and wearing very even.

The shock though - help me with this. I reinstalled the new shocks with the new bushings as seen, but, you say I need to run the nut down to where the bushing is "mashed" as falt as the washer?

I just assumed this was correct since the original bushings were just a little smaller.

Please help me so the shocks perform correctly.

  15. Hey there Huxz, glad I could help with the manifold info - mine works great! (price was excellent)

I am also going to Yellowstone. Be there in June. We are staying just 15 miles South of the South Entrance along the Tetons. Jackson is about another hour South.

Here is the website if you like: http://www.gtlc.com/lodgeCBV.aspx

Maybe someone has some more info about this campground. It's $52 per night.

My best info tells me that all campgounds in Yellowstone are first come first serve - be there early.

I will have my kids and really dont want to be waiting around on a site to open.

    Just a thought!

  16. Hay there Dorothy & Alan,

My awning came on it when I bought it. I think it might be from the 80's though.

Hereare some pics of the bracket/braces and fully extended.

    It's @ 12' long.

The original tag is on it and it says Coleman Faulkner company.

    Hope this is usable info.

I also have a very tight area to mount to. The door does not open all the way out, but can when the bottom of the awning is released and tent staked.

  18. HEY THERE DOLPHINHAPPY!

    Try this email address: tamron2@yahoo.com

This lady posted on a website I watch for 1989 and older manuals.

    http://www.rvingthemidwestconnection.com/m...ls1989older.htm

Here is what her original thread said: 1977 Dolphin - Owners Manual Available

My name is Tammye and I'm trying to locate the refrigerator manual for a dolphin model 185 mini-home. I have the owner's manual for my 1977 toyota dolphin mini-home but it's very short and sweet with not alot of info in it. And, it says to refer to the refrigerator manual which I am trying to locate. Thank you very much

    Hope this helps,

  19. Hey there lostinbama2x

I also received 4 extra large bushings and 2 brass sleeves. I am assuming they are for a different year model since my oreder was for 81 to 86 model pick-up.

I took the front bushings out and cleaned them. They were still like new. No wear or cracking - very pliable, so i cleaned the shackle bolts and reused the bushings.

Just got back from the test run to the gas station and to the auto parts store where the guys could see the finished project.

ONLY PROBLEM: because of new bushings, shocks, leaf spring assist bars, air bags at correct inflate, and correct tire pressure - I NOW HAVE MORE SQUEEKS!

I guess its ok since I now have a reliable vehicle - Family approved!

Thanks for the Help and Advice - Its greatly appreciated.

  20. Hey there Maineah,

The shock measured 1/4" longer at "fully extended" than the original damper shock.

I turned the wheels and they went all the way to the stops.

The Stops: can you get replacement rubbers for the ends of the stops? mine are cracked in half and I noticed where the stops had been rubbed before quite a bit.

    Thanks again for the help!

  21. Hey there Maineah and ShopRat,

That Tie Rod Fork/ Pickle Fork worked great. Hit it about 10 times and the old part popped right off.

Replaced it with a Monroe SC2914 (22-1942-0) Steering Stabilizer.

The original part number did not match anything, anywhere!

The new Monroe bolted-up perfectly. Test Run is Wednesday!

Thanks again for the advice and the information to help me get ready for my 13 Day Yellowstone Trip in June.

  22. Hey Guys,

I am trying to replace the original Toyotoa Steering Stabelizer Shock. The top bolt released very easily because it has great clearence.

The bottom bolt however will not budge. It has been sprayed and hit and twisted etc. for about an hour now and will not budge. I can't get much hammer/leverage to hit because of the close frame.

    ANY TIPS HERE????

Here are pics of mine so you can see what I am dealing with.

Original Part # is 45700-35030 U-B-3 Tokico. Do you know the replacement number off hand?
