martin46 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I recently bought a 1984 toyota mini cruiser that has issues with the interior lighting. Can anyone tell me where the fuse box is that powers the interior lighting? Quote
stamar Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 It will likely be near the converter box. Quote
Maineah Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 They usually are behind a small door often held with a screw in the converter it's self. Quote
sdboltdude Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I have a 1987 mini cruiser its under bench bed in a black box next to converter you could follow the wires from coach batt..to find fuse box Quote
sdboltdude Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 you may have to check the lights themselves one might be shorting out... take off 1 fixture at a time and try lights to see if the lights are the problem might be a good time to replace all fixtures to led... Quote
martin46 Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Thanks for all the suggestions. I found the convertor and the battery, or should I say the lack of one. I installed the battery and all is well. Next question, my fuel and temperature gauges are not working, any suggestions? Quote
Derek up North Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 My first step would be to check to see if the 2 gauges are protected by a common fuse and check the fuse. P.S. I THINK you're looking for a 7.5A fuse. Quote

Also check fuse block for blown fuse. My toy is older so I can't give specific area to look. Quote
martin46 Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 I checked the fuses in the driver's side left fuse box, and all is well. I also took out the instrument cluster and all the plug ins are tight. When I was looking at the fuse box, I found two wires (green and green/black) connected to a female connection, but could not locate the male connector. Could they be the ground? Quote
Derek up North Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 No. The power to the gauges looks to be 'Yellow'. The wire to the Temp sensor is 'Yellow/Green' and the Fuel sender is 'Yellow/Red'. I THINK your Green & Green/Black wires are associated with the cruise control. Got it fitted? Does it work? Quote
Derek up North Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Here's a link to the Factory Service Manual (1985). Wiring Diagrams are the last pages. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_1LbTxQDmlVYmRkZTE2YjItODUzYS00NDUxLTk0ODUtYTYxYjZiYjk4ZTA5/edit?hl=en&pli=1 Quote
Maineah Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 The fuse should be labeled "engine" if you can find your temp sensor on the engine remove the wire and ground it. This will make the temp gauge read full scale if the gauge has power and is working. If it does the sensor is bad. The fuel gauge of course would be a good bit harder to get to. They are both powered from the same fuse. Quote
