mulwyk Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 We consumed tons of this stuff while living aboard a sailboat in the '90's. Easy to make, requires only a sauce pan and some boiling water, and the ingredients will keep for a year without refrigeration. This recipe will feed two hungry people and one dog. The prices are yesterday at Walmart. 12 oz. can Chunk Chicken Breast ($1.98) 15 oz. can Sweet Peas (.69) 1 packet Chicken Gravy Mix (.49) 4oz. bag Baby Reds Mashed Potato Mix (1.00) 1. Dump the contents of the Chicken Breast can into a mid sized sauce pan. Do not drain the chicken, there's a good 1/4 cup of tasty chicken broth in there. 2. Begin to heat the chicken on low. 3. Stir in the Chicken Gravy Mix. 4. Dump the can of Peas into the pot. Again, do not drain, be sure to get all that beautiful pea juice into the mix. 5. Meanwhile, boil two cups of water in the tea kettle or another pan. Stir in mashed potato mix, set aside for 5 minutes. 6. Continue to heat chicken mixture just to boiling, reduce heat, simmer a couple minutes while stirring, then set aside to cool a couple minutes. 7. Serve large splats of the potatos with chicken/pea/gravy on top. Quote
WME Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Yeach, peas. However corn and egg noodles work real good. Bubbles and squeak verson of your orginal version with spuds is to make patties and fry them. Quote
