Correction; that is a w56B. sorry for the typo.

Also here is a useful link for Toyota pickup 4x2 transmissions. Marlin Crawler's list is for 4x4 mostly.

Great info - thanks a bunch!  Yes, Idaho is "all of that and a bag of chips".  We've lived here 31 years, and have been exploring remote areas in either our classic Toyota LandCruiser, or our classic VW Vanagon.  So, stepping up in the Sunrader is going to be suddenly switching to glamping for us.  Especially with the interior upgrades I'm planning.  Thanks for the link.

Ok I finished my 3.4 swap last year. I started with a 132,000 mile,2002 , 4Runner. I bought the hole rig after it was wrecked.$1800.  I was able to use a lot of parts. Total parts cost $5500.00. I have since sold more than $2000 of parts off of the wreck, soon to go to the crusher.  I love it. So far on trips up and over and mountains of Central Oregon I have been getting 13.5 mpg driving with traffic. Climbing the grades easy with the 4/88 gears. Love the overdrive, I can use it now. The upgrade I am working on now is the Taurus electric fan. Fits great setting up the DCC fan system now. My wife and I just love this Motorhome. Paul.

Same problem here and it only happens when the temperature is like over 90° and going up long steep grades. I believe the problem is the radiator for the 3.4 is higher capacity than the 3.0, but the 3.4 radiator won't fit in our vehicles.

I have several trips on this setup now but no 90 plus outside temp trips. Hope to get a hot summer trip in. I also pull a trailer with mc on it on short trips.

By the way disregard the K&N sticker on the alr cleaner. In my research it's not a good idea to have an oil coated filter in front of a throttle body. If you get oil on the air flow meter your in big trouble. That sticker was on the air box of my doner truck. The factory fan worked ok it was just very noisy. The Ford fan pulls 3000 cfm. It has 2 speeds. The second speed comes on anytime the AC is on. I can now talk to my wife in the cab with out yelling while going down the road. No fan noise!
