rubinscube
just wanted to know if anyone has ever done this or experienced putting the leaf springs on top of the axle.
Bunneys
It should be fairly straightforward, but remember you will get around a 4" lift then... Toyota FJ40's do this swap all the time for better off-road performance. It's easy in the rear, but a bit more trouble in the front Why would you want to do it? granby607
Well, I'd like to look into it because the ground clearance of my '84 sunrader is just not enough. 4" does seem a bit exessive though. What other options might you suggest? If I was to change rear spring setup, what could be done with the front end?
Gulfstream Greg
I would put in some air bags and extra leaf springs. Putting the axle on top will throw off the geometry of your front end affecting camber and toe in because of the angle change. Most likely an over-steer will occur. Adding air bags will greatly improve clearance. I put some on mine. Before the bags the rear scrapped on every driveway etc. Now it rarely scrapes. MAXXFabrication
because of the thickness of your leaf springs it will lift it much more than 4 inches, closer to 6+ counting the new pad you have to weld on as well
