clifton maggard Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I am trying to help my son restore his 1980 Toyota Dolphin. We are trying to get everything in working order , thus I'm trying to decide if I should replace the water heater or replace the anode in it. I have been looking for the anode location, but I cannot find any place where it could be except for 1 1/16” hex head plug on the backside of the water heater as shown. Cannot find anything on the front side that looks like a place to take out an anode see pictures. There is a drain cock, but it is not a hex head. Cannot figure out what model number it is, but I do have the serial number as shown. Looks to be have made by the American Appliance Manufacturing Corporation model number 8V6?? something. Anybody have any ideas on the best way to approach this issue. Thanks in advance Quote
clifton maggard Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 My anode is in the back. You can see the label if you look close. Now the question is, what condition is the tank in. Quote
linda s Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Do not try to change the anode. Too much chance of making a hole you can't seal after all these years. Doesn't look like the tank is leaking so just flush it out. Water in fresh water tank, drain plug on front of heater open and run pump till it drains clean. Linda S Quote
clifton maggard Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 THANK LINDA.S FYI I put a scope down in the tank, and it was in bad shape and threw it away.. Quote
