hello all -

my 1992 itasca’s furnace (suburban model #dd-17dsi) has a motor which seems to be dying (suburban part #231916). i cleaned what i could

reach but still not spinning fast enough to push the “sail” into the right position. (when i manually

move the sail, all works fine - so it’s not the switch). it could be the bearings, brushes or ?). i have been unable to locate exact matches through rvupgrades.com and adventurerv.net: “out of stock”.

any ideas on other places to try? or knowledge of substitute brands or part numbers which could will work?

thank you for any insights you may have!

safe travels -

Check with Grainger. Don’t let the factory part number scare you. Most electric motors have multiple applications.

You should have a build plate or decal listing capacities. Contact any electrical supply house or heating supply house. Someone will have the correct rated motor.

Like Fred said: you don't need the exact PN or anything... just needs the same specs.

As a last resort, pull the motor and disassemble it (carefully). Clean the parts well and allow to fully dry. Use a light oil on the shaft and bushings, reassemble, and cross your fingers! I did this a few years back on the old Hydro Flame and, while she squeaks now and then, still runs and delivers the heat!

buyers beware?

rvsupplystores.com could be a scam?

1. i ordered two motors on friday, total of 73.39, paid with credit card, via paypal

2. i received a note immediately from paypal: a) money went to

焱明 徐

and b) price charged was increased to $83.00. no reason given.

3. no contact in 5 days from chinese email above or from rvsupplystores.com

4. i emailed rvsupplystores.com (no phone number available) to inquire about status of order. interestingly, tge email address for the store was klingercxr@gmail.com[!]. no response received.

i will contact paypal tomorrow with these details and request an order cancellation and a refund will post updates here.

Crudsky.  With my furnace out of the coach, was thinking "perfect, I'll just put a new motor in before reinstall as insurance."  Thanks for trying, all.  My plan remains to carefully clean the whole unit and connections,  and lubricate the bearings if possible.  Very simply unit.

Just lubing the shaft won't last long you have to soak the felt surrounding the bearing in oil.
