On Facebook someone is insisting that the 1986 Toyota and only the 1986 have flat lug nuts. I tried to respond to his post but FB won't let me. Can anyone deny or affirm this? I've had my current nuts with 30,000 miles.

Left hand threads on only one wheel?  That's NUTS!

that was common in the 60s and before. i had a 67 dodge van with left thread and a 51 dodge

The left hand threaded axles were the recall replacement axles. They were pulled from the commercial truck assembly line. When Toyota started shipping C&C chassis the rear axle had right hand nuts

My 86 Sunrader had nothing to do with any recall. That was the first year of factory full float axles. Maybe not we'll thought out but at least safe.

linda is your front wheel left thread also?

No only the rear dually. Front is standard 5 lug Toyota wheel. And no, I never thought for a minute that I needed to carry an extra spare. I have driven well over 100 miles with only one wheel on one side in the back.

Nope I was wrong. Parts is showing same hub from 87 on. Weird I know I've seen some with adapters

Must not have been factory

go to know for those looking to convert to 6 lug front spindles

Same bearings throughout as well.
I questioned that when I replaced mine, figured there would be a difference.

It appears the outer, six lug portion of the hub had been just bolted to the original five lug hub on the ‘91 anyways.

Unfortunately, that's not the case. I neglected to search the full line. The V6 models used a different hub and bearings than the 86 through 88 ones.

Many of these parts are still available through Amayama, meaning shipped directly from Japan. Prices are not all that bad either
