vtchris
My 1991 Itasca had that "jack knife" fold out couch and it was so very uncomfortable that I decided to tear it out and build my own couch. The removal was a piece of cake, just four bolts and it was gone. Then a trip to the local hardware store for a 3/4" piece of finished plywood, cut 33"x67" ($38). All that needed was a corner support on the left side and it fit right in. Next was the expensive part, a trip to get the custom cut foam. I needed the bottom rectangular piece and opted for 3" of firm foam with 2" of soft on top. Then three back bolsters. Total price of $433! Thank goodness a friend gave me the upholstery material. And the seamstress only charged $125. Here are the pictures.

Derek up North
She rarely visits to comment. I think what you see is what you get. Remove the backrest/cushions and you've got a bed. Doesn't look like it's a 54' wide 'full/double'
vtchris
It is 33" wide with the back cushions removed. I find it quite comfortable to sleep on.

And I will need to lift this higher to get to wiring under there etc.
