Tika
TOYOTA RV RALLY Idyllwild, CA August 28-30, 2009 Hey folks, were having a Toyota RV Rally in the Southern California area next month. Here's your chance to come to Idyllwild (in the mountains east of Hemet) where it's cool in August! The location is at the Thousand Trails Resort where we had a terrific time last year. The theme for this weekend is Hawaiian. So consider bringing your grass skirt and/or Hawaiian shirt because for our Saturday night dinner this time we'll be enjoying a potluck Hawaiian Luau! Make your reservations soon if you want one of the limited number of sites in the section that is reserved specifically for our group. If you have been thinking about coming to a Rally, consider making a reservation for this one. Newcomers are always welcome! Now here are the details . . . - - - - - - I - N - V - I - T - A - T - I - O - N - - - - - - Hear ye, Hear ye! All Toyota RV owners within driving distance: You are invited to come the weekend of August 28-30 to Thousand Trails RV Park in Idyllwild. This is a particularly nice RV resort with lots of great activities and beautiful mountain pines and scenery. Come a day early on Thursday, and/or stay until Monday, up to 4 nights if you like. Some things we can look forward to: - Pleasant weather for August. Elevation is 6700'. - Lovely pine-tree shaded RV sites with water and electricity (a dump station is on site). We expect we will have one section of the RV Park pretty much to ourselves. - Lots of nice hiking trails (maps available) - Swimming pool (Adult swim 10-11a and 4-5p) and wading pool - Horseback riding available with advanced reservations - Kids' playground - Bocce Ball Court - Trout Fishing Pond ($5 per fish). No license required, but you must supply your own fishing equipment & bait. - Lodge, Gift Shop, and Country Store, with propane available on site - Wi-Fi Internet access in the Lodge. (Cell service works fine with Verizon, but spotty with Sprint, AT&T, and others.) - It's a short drive to the mountain resort town of Idyllwild (3 miles) and to other local sites for day trips. Idyllwild has lots of cute shops! Friday evening events scheduled by the RV Park: - Campfire in the amphitheatre with free s'mores - Adult Bingo (fee) – 7p - Candy Bar Bingo – 7p Saturday events scheduled by the RV Park: - Home cooked breakfast available in the Pine Cone Café – 8a to 10a - Craft Hour – 10:30a - Pine Cone Races - Nature Scavenger Hunt - Kids Pool Games – 1p - Ice Cream Social – 1:30p - Candy Bar Bingo – 3:00p PLEASE NOTE: Because Saturday evening for our potluck dinner we will have a HAWAIIAN LUAU, please bring potluck food in keeping with the theme. Saturday night we'll have a campfire for our group, but BRING PRESTO LOGS, NOT FIREWOOD. (Forest Service regulations prohibit wood burning fires.) Sunday = more of the same fun, including: - Home cooked breakfast again in the Café – 8a to 10a - Sunday Chapel Service in Amphitheatre (sponsored by RV Park) – 10a This is also the weekend of the Idyllwild Jazz in the Pines Festival, Saturday and Sunday 9:30a-5p, at the Idyllwild Arts Campus. Newcomers and wannabes are welcome at these rallies; we always have several first-time attendees. It is a great opportunity to see what others have done to personalize their "Toyhouses" and make them more comfortable. Pets are welcome too (on a leash). Idyllwild Preserve is one of the parks in the Thousand Trails RV Resort system, and it is particularly nice. For one thing it is quite large and somewhat hilly, so it's a great park for bringing bikes to get around. They also have excellent staff and multiple programmed activities as you can see. The rates for RV sites for the rally are $33.00 per night plus a one-time reservation fee of $8.00 per rig. Visitor's vehicles are $10 per day. For early-bird reservations, paid for by July 20, the reservation fee will be waived. For any reservations made after Wednesday, August 12 there will be an additional $10 late reservation fee. Please note: Reservations must be paid in advance! Twenty sites are available in the pine tree loop area of the park where we plan to be. Site assignments in this section will be based on the order in which reservations are received. If there are more than twenty reservations, you'll be in a site up the hill in the public section (same price). This means if you want to be near the rest of us, be sure to pay for your reservation early. This is a membership-only RV Resort and you must be on the "guest list" to get in the gate. Sorry, but it doesn't work if you just show up. Please CALL ME to reserve your site (rather than email), 626-798-4510, and I will tell you the address to send your payment or how to send it through Paypal. Leave a message if you get my business voicemail. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. It's gonna be fun! Tika `86 E-Z Ryder Now for the links section . . .
