International
IMG_3302.MOV IMG_3302.MOV We got a lot of rain recently and I noticed that the area where the bed meets the front of the camper is soaked. After removing the mattress there are areas where the corners look worn and cracked. My guess is maybe the leaks are coming through the windows and outer corners of the camper. There’s also a leak coming from the roof vent on to the bed. I’ve tried using silicone but either used the wrong sealer, used it incorrectly, or all of the above. Any suggestions? I’m new to motorhome living.
Scott iv
You'll want to search this site and the internet for resealing your windows and vents. Plan on removing your windows and in the cab over section, cleaning the sealing surface outside, and purchasing butyl tape as the sealer. Silicone will not stop the water as you may have found out. Resealing RV windows is a standard maintenance activity and should be completed at least every 10 years or so. The glass within the window frames could also be leaking and you will have to explore this possibility as well. There is also information about sealing window glass within the window frames here and on the internet. I see you put silicone on the edge of the large egress vent. Ask around here about those larger vents Dolphin used if you think the vent itself is leaking and not just where it seals to the roof. Take good care of that vent as I'm not sure how available those odd sized ones are.
john*thomas
This is quite common. There are two avenues basically. Keep on chasing leaks with sealants or remove the offending item and correctly seal it. At some point the wood frame can develop rot and the fix becomes more extensive.
