Wondering what others are doing if anything for a surge protector? We are heading to the keys in April and want to see if they are necessary?

FWIW. I live in the country and I'm on the hind end of the power grid. I keep my RV plugged in all camping season. Over a period of 6 years I had 2 converters quit. No idea if it was due to old converters or the power grid voltage. I bought a surge protector 4 years ago and have had no converter problems since.

Progressive Industries SSP-30x. My RV has 2 low amp AC's and I can run both on 30 amps

The modern converters use switching supplies they operate over a wide range of voltage that does not mean they are totally safe from over voltage but less likely to be damaged. This of course does nothing for things that are plugged into the camper outlets. Microwaves,tv etc. My camper is plugged in all winter and when its parked drive fast and take chances!
