So just planning the build for my 91 odyssey. I’m wanting to add a rear locker. I am looking at picking up a wrecked 4runner for a 3.4 swap and was wondering if anyone knows if the elocker from the 4runner fits the 6 lug dually rear axle in the odyssey?

from what I can tell both and 8” rear ends. Just figured if I can snag the 4runner for a decent price which it sounds like I can then even better deal if I can utilize the rear 3rd aswell.

tried googling and I think it should work just wanted to see if anyone has any experience

4runners weren't available with a locking diff until 1996 and even then it was an option so most won't have it. Your going to have to find one that has what you need. Here's some info that might be helpful. Scroll down to electric lockers and follow some of the thread links for more. Looks like the wiring is a B.

Erik's Toyota Differential info (4x4wire.com)

Pay attention to the gear ratio too. Most will come with a 4.3 or 4.56 and either of those is fine. They did make some with a 4.1 which is probably what you have now. Not great for the best use of power.

Thanks Linda. Yes my plan was to hopefully find the correct year/optioned 4runner giving me the motor and rear diff I want. I swapped an elocker into my tacoma last winter and used an off-road solutions harness which took all of 10 mins to install so that was my plan wiring wise. Thanks for the link. Sounds like it should work with some modification.

Man I've been trying to find an elocker for my 4x4 odyssey for a while now without paying the Ebay prices. Anytime a 4runner with a locker comes into my junkyard (which isn't too often), the diff is gone before I can even get there!

Buddy of mine has access to buy ICBC write offs and from what I’ve seen I should be able to snag a running totaled runner for $700-1k. I figure if I can snag one with a locker, and a decent 3.4 then part out remainder that cuts cost quite a bit.  I was looking at a 4x4 swap but think if I can at least run maybe a slight lift and a locker out back that should get me by.

I don't know for sure and that is a pretty rare bird but I sure would research it a lot before I bought one. How about the axles will the full floaters fit the spider gears? So we have a 4X4 already in a top heavy motorhome I wondering how far into the willy waggs one might go with one to need a locking diff?

Surprisingly not that rare. Looking on car-part I found hundreds of them all over the country. Odyssey 4x4 it looks like a place in Miami has some and another in Homosassa FL.  As far as will it fit the dually axle I guess we will find out when he does it. Nucktaco , please keep us informed of your progress. This is a good build. We all want to see it.

Anyone that has done any offroading (even in a 4x4), knows how debilitating an open differential is in almost any offroad condition. I'm really going all out with this build, and a locker is on the list of something I'd really like it to have. That doesn't mean i'm going to be tearing it up in Moab, but a locking rear diff completely changes offroad capability in even the most minor off offroad situations.
