No generator in 1986 Mini-Cruiser?

Hi there - newbie here. I'm looking at a nearby 1986 Mini Cruiser at what seems a decent price (6K; needs new engine), but it doesn't have a generator??

It does have a big box on the tail end - is that where a generator can go?  ~$4K to add one?

Most of us spend thousands on repairs even when the engine does work. Leaks, appliances, plumbing all might need repair. Also if the engine doesn't run the trannie could be toast and you would have no way to tell. Big no on this one
