Hello, I'm new.

My wife and I just picked up a 1986 Toyota Escaper.  It's got 32k miles on it.  Lots of water on the inside of it but the bones seem very good.  It moves forward, backward, and stops.  All the outside lights work.  Very little rust on the body.  I think we did pretty good for $2500 (Canadian).  Here's some photos of it.

We plan on gutting the inside, rebuilding it, and then living full time in it for a while in western Canada.

I'm glad this community exists and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions.  For now, I just thought I'd say hi.

Welcome to our forum. Hopefully, you’ve got the 6 lug rear axle (hard to tell from the picture). These old Toys are great little vehicles.

Yes, that's the 'correct' Full Floating rear axle.

Be warned that in 1986 (only) the driver's side REAR has wheel studs and nuts that are 'left hand thread', so they undo clockwise, unlike all the other 3 corners. Not knowing, it's happened more than once that a garage will shear them off with their impact gun set to MAXIMUM!
