My 1988 22re xtra cab truck had become impossible to start below 40 degrees. I found for some reason no more power to the cold start injector. went to napa and bought a replacement plugin . wired it to a toggle switch , a line fuse straight to battery , injector and battery ground . turn switch on at 25 degrees and hit the key she fires right up . turn off switch. and good to go . electric hand choke .

Comes from a crank signal from the ECM. You may want  to be careful of timing they just dump unregulated fuel if forced to inject, lots of it.
