There is a reason motorhome generators take fuel from the vehicle tank.

I have seen auxillary gas tanks for generators on some RV's,  not common.  Holiday Rambler and I think Lesharo are 2.

I did not read this whole post.   Experimenting with mine I found that separating the exhaust from the warmed cooling air raised the temperature of the generator.  I do not recall how much  as it was some time ago, but enough to cause concern and I scrapped the idea.  Does not make any sense but that is what happened.

I have about 40 pictures of the temp gauge when experimenting but no idea which is which??

As I had a need to tow a small boat so no space for the Honda in the rear bumper; I ended with upgrading the alternator, beef up the cables (#2/0), 8000W inverter...and run the AC thru the inverter; it works when needed.

Looking to build new litihium ion batteries but ran out of time for now!

I use the same Honda but just carry it loose right behind the driver.  I make sure the gas tank vent is closed.  When I stop I put the Honda on the ground 15-20 feet away and hook up.  If it rains I put a folding chair on each side of it and put a small tarp over.  That way there is lots of room for air to move.  Biggest concern is possible theft.
