  1. Just finished a nice little trip to Lake of the Ozarks SP over a long weekend. Great weather, nice scenery, and tons of surprisingly tame, white-tailed deer, right up around the Warrior for most of our stay. Brought our e-bikes along, per usual, and the wife and I had a great time buzzing around the area. Unfortunately, heading out of the park and down the main park entry road on our way home, a loud crash was heard overhead, then a few pieces of debris rained down on the hood. The large 59x12" cabover window is gone, as you can see—most of the glass ended up inside the window curtain and on the mattress. Not sure if a falling branch struck the window or if a large bird impacted or what - ?! We drove home just fine but kept it under 55mph. First time that's happened to us in our eight years of ownership. So the question is whether to try and replace the glass... or to block off that unlucky window opening completely. The large rubber window seal is in pretty good shape, it appears, but I know these Class C cabover windows tend to be problematic, even from the factory. I'm reading through the forum posts on the subject, but feel free to chime in here if you have any thoughts/suggestions. Thanks!
  2. Hi, has anyone replaced the Cabover window on their Americana? It is slightly curved around the front of the Cabover area and held in a rubber gasket material, no other frame. Looking for options on materials, methods, sealants, etc. NOT presently looking at fiberglassing over the window and deleting it. I currently have it sealed on the outside with a border of Eternabond tape. It works but isn’t pretty. We are looking at completing out interior rebuild and hoping to replace the window first before we finish the bunk area. Thanks!
  3. Greetings all! As of a few days ago I was not even aware that Toyota Motorhomes existed! So, yes, I am new here and contemplating a 1986 Mirage. I have long been a fan of the 22RE and currently drive a so-so rusty '88 4runner all over the country doing art fairs. This is what I would be using the Mirage for. So...bubble window over front passenger side is out - how best to replace it and with what? Do I scour junk yards across the country or is their an aftermarket replacement? Do I make my own with plexi and a heat gun? Tires: do I want 195's or 185's? Does it matter alot? The mirage is gutted and will hold my art show stuff which may be around 500lbs? For Mirage do I def. want D class? I need a larger vehicle (than the 4runner) to hold my show stuff and get me around reliably: it's either the Mirage, a Sienna mini-van or (ugh) a ford cargo van. Any thoughts...? Thanks for all the info!
  4. Hi - hoping someone can help me out here. I'm looking to find the correct window gasketing for the exterior of my 1986 Escaper. Mine is shrinking/cracking, which seems to be a common problem. Below I've included a side view of the gasket that's been pulled out of the window. Thanks in advance! Toby
  5. Hey everyone, thought I'd share some of the work my wife and I have been doing on our 4x4 Sunrader. We bought it in August 2017 in Bozeman, MT. We drove it around the west coast for a while and then made our way to Florida to begin a renovation on it. My wife and I have been living in a VW Vanagon for the last two years and decided to make the move to the Sunrader for the extra room, 4WD, Toyota reliability, and cheaper parts. We started the renovation at the beginning of November and are currently still working on it. We've heavily documented the process with photos, videos, and blog posts so I'll try not to be too redundant and post links here. I'll keep posting as we have more to show! Her name is Amelia and this was her before we started working on her. There's plenty more picture of her and her interior before we started the process over here: http://www.boundfornowhere.com/blog/2017/new-home-on-wheels Our goal was to start with a clean slate on renovation so we tore her down to the fiberglass and salvaged what we could. We found LOTS of dead mice in the walls which made us feel better about peeling back everything so we could get a fresh start. Here is a video of that process: We also cover it with some photos and writing in this blog post. This post also shows our first attempts at fiberglassing as we decided to teach ourselves. http://www.boundfornowhere.com/blog/build-out-week-1-2 I'll leave it at here for now. Don't want to overwhelm you with too much all at once. Be back soon with some more process. -MAK and Owen
  6. Hey! My Sunrader Diane and I had a long winter and I need to do some repairs in the Los Angeles Area. Unfortunately, I have limited DIY resources because of where it is parked-etc. First, I have some serious water damage from a leak somewhere in the ceiling. I really need it to stop leaking, and obviously, the water damage to the wood is a problem for the future. I noticed that the roof vent for my stove, etc has a crack in the hard plastic. Anyone have any experience with this leaking? I have found replacements on Craigslist, and it seems like this is an easy enough DIY project, am I correct in that assumption? Next, my rear living room window broke out in a tragic Juniper Brush accident this year. Can I go to any old glass auto repair shop to get it done, or RV specific? Anyone have experience replacing these windows in the LA area have a place that you recommend for this sort of work? Thanks! I love reading through the forum. If you ever see me on the road in Southern California, honk and wave! I appreciate your input in advance.
  7. I have a 1990 Toyota Winnebago Warrior. the over cab bunk windows are both cracked in multiple places. Like a spider web but not that tight. I'd like to replace these before they start to leak. I have the DOT info from the windows but don't know how to find the windows. Are "originals" still available? Can an auto glass shop make something suitable for me? The DOT info is: Guardian Safety Float Laminated AS3-90 2GG-MIN DOT 22 232 My little Toy has been wonderful and I plan to keep it a few more years so I wan't to keep it in top shape. Thanks for any help you can provide. ToyGoTa, because my Toy goes ta lots of fun places!
  8. Does anyone know where I can get one of the curved windows that were in the front of the Sunrader RVs? My right side broke when it got hit by debris during a windstorm. Thanks!
  9. I found the source of my mold smell. I guess I should have pulled the overhead cushion back further before buying my 1993 Seabreeze. I probably would have bought her anyway though. Here is what I can see. Window leaking under wall paper and dripping into the seam. Seam is mushy. The actual wall still feels solid, but the wallpaper is no longer adhered to the wall. Is there any way to put a stop to this without tearing anything out? I was thinking about caulking the window and caulking closed the smelly seam. Is this a bad idea? Does anyone know how much this might cost to have it professionally repaired or how difficult it would be to cut out the moldy part? Hopefully the part that needs to be removed, if any, is the bed under the cushion near the wall and not the wall itself. Thank you for any help!
  10. Have you ever replaced the glass in your motorhome window because it broke? I'm talking about replacing the glass only and not the window frame. How difficult was it to replace?
