  1. Hi Everyone! I'm new to the group and recently purchased a 1990 Itasca Spirit - it's the Micro 19 ft motorhome. We are in the middle of an over cab rebuild due to water damage/wood rot and will be resealing the windows soon. We will also be painting the interior and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about how these were originally built with the luan plywood and wallpaper. I've seen posts online recommending that you not take the original textured paper off the luan boards and simply paint over it but have also seen some saying the material can be tricky to work on top of. From what I can tell these are the original walls. Any advice?
  2. Hi, thank goodness for this site! My husband I and recently purchased a 1991 Toyota Dolphin. We think we got a good deal at $1000 and 80,000 miles. Mechanically we think she.s in decent shape, but needs some fixing up. Our concern is with the seemingly entire rotten wood frame of the living quarters. So far we pulled out the couch and eating area and pulled out the overhead cabinets and the whole left wall (drivers side) is rotten. The roof seems to be in OK condition and the sleeping area needs total repair. We plan to finish gutting it and rearrange the space with our own much lighter setup. My questions are - where do we start reframing? What materials are ideal to use and do we have to remove the fiber glass or can we rebuild from the inside? Did we get a good deal? Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated
  3. So there's a massive gaping hole in the floor near the side entrance of my 82 20' Dolphin RV. The only thing keeping everything from falling onto the ground is the fiberglass sheeting underneath the 3/4" plywood. So, we buy some new sheets of plywood to re- do the floor. I notice, where one of the walls is separating from the RV, that there appear to be screws going into the SIDE (The thin part) of the plywood. My stepdad looks at it, and says, "You can't do that! That's insanity!" I think maybe it's just a fluke, but it turns out, that *is* how they secured the walls to the floor, is in the sides of the plywood with screws. My question is, is there an easy way to replace the floor without literally tearing the entire cab portion apart?
