  1. Hi Folks, We're about 3,500 miles into our summer road-trip at the moment. 2 days ago we noticed that our refrigerator roof vent cover was missing, I got on the roof to have a look and it looks like the base is damaged too (see photos). Really not sure how this happened - we didn't hit anything that we can think of.. Anyway, I'm wondering how to go about fixing this? As mentioned, we are on the road so if a 100% fix is going to be a lot of effort is there something short term I could do? Could it be worth just taking it to a servicing shop? For reference, the vehicle is a 1991 Winnebago Warrior, the fridge is Norcold brand. and we are in Vegas currently (in case anyone can recommend a service tech). Thanks in advance! Nick
  2. I just had the pleasure(?) of replacing my fridge in my 1990 Itasca Spirit. The video says it all: Replacing The Dometic RM2401 Refrigerator
  3. I have a 1990 Dolphin with a fridge (Dometic RM 2401) that is not working. I plugged it in to electric while the RV was on power and it "ran" but did not get cold. Also lit the propane and ran with that on max cold and it did not get cold. After running a bit I opened the door to the fridge and could smell ammonia. I mentioned this and was told that any ammonia smell means the unit is dead. After this I was told: I am going to give this a try as either way the fridge needs to come out as I have an AC dorm style fridge I plan to put in there and use with an inverter. I am wondering if anyone has advice on the easiest/best way to remove the unit. I am particularly concerned about the gas line. My plan was to turn off the propane at the tank and then unhook the fridge, but I am not sure the proper way to cap the pipe or hose that runs to the fridge if there is no valve there. Thanks!
  4. Hello everyone I have been lurking mostly for a few years and have a question or two. I bought my itasca two years ago and have taken It across the country and back. The motor preformed spectacularly and I love my rig other than a a few leaks and the refrigerator crapping out on me. My plan is to remove the roof ac unit and fridge and replace the fridge with the two door mini fridge I bought at Walmart And run it off an inverter . My question is what's the best roof fix and has anyone done a camouflage paint job for fitting in with nature? I was thinking woods camp on one side and desert on the other. Any thoughts or comments would be welcome. Thanks.
  5. Hi oh great and knowledgeable Dolphin Masters: I awoke this morning, started coffee and opened the refrigerator for some cream, and was greeted with the unmistakeable odor of ammonia from the interior of my RM 2400 gas/electric refrigerator. This is in my 1986 Dolphin and appears to be original equipment. I had the refer off-line for about 2 weeks and just filled the LP tank yesterday. The refer was not able to keep the pilot burning for several attempts, so as I have done in the past, I lit the burners on the stove in an attempt to fill the supply line with LP. I have noticed that the pressure at the burners is very high when I have a freshly filled LP tank ; if the burner is on full the flame is being blown out. I was able to keep the pilot burning on the refer after this, and it appeared to be cooling normally when I went to bed. So, I don't have a manual for this refer nor any idea how to proceed; I did shut the unit down. Is there a high-pressure relief valve on this unit? I may have tried to cool it too quickly by going to 1/2 Of the thermostat on start-up rather than the 1/4 turn recommended. Any help will be greatly appreciated, You all have given me great advice in the past
  6. Hi, This is my first time on this forum I'm on my way to look at a 1985 Sunrader 21ft 4 cylinder 4 speed with 75000 miles for $6000. From what I've read and heard it sounds like a good deal. It has the 1ton rear axle and many new parts. The only flaws so far is it needs a new frig which i read will cost $1100, no a/c and some sort of crack that does not leak. I will take any advice on what to look for, what to ask, etc I really want to buy this sunrader and I'm trying to cover all my bases beforehand. thank you in head of time michael
