  1. Any Salt Lakers here? Looking for an RV mechanic in Salt Lake. Only one I've found that services the chassis nearby has the worst reviews I've ever seen. Would help me a lot, thanks.
  2. Maineah, that might not be a bad idea as I am completely new to this. I do know an electrician and a guy from my softball team owns an RV so I think I'll contact one or both of them to give me a crash course. Thanks for all the replies.
  3. I want to connect it up to my houses power to make sure everything is in working order. The batteries go into the inverter (which doesn't work) from there the inverter connects into that panel and I am pretty sure that 220 is connected to the panel. I think I might be able to disconnect the 220v in pic 3 and plug that in to my house. I'll wait for a response before trying that as I'd hate to noob this up.
  4. Interesting, it does say inverter on it. It attaches to some deep cycle batteries that are charged by a solar panel.
  5. Trying to make sense of the electrical in this thing. I previously posted some questions ( 1) Now I am wondering how I plug this into my homes electrical. I think I found the shore power line (see picture 3 below) which is currently connected up to the solar power internally. Perhaps I should dig around for another line. This sucker looks like a 220v, is there an adapter I can use to safely go into a 110v outlet?) 2) I am likely going to just replace the inverter (see picture 2 below) most of the inverters I've seen online have standard 110v outlets on them, this seems to go into a electrical panel though (see picture 1 below). Where would I get an inverter like that?
  6. Hey everyone. Just purchased a 1990. No idea on the manufacture of the RV as I can't find any sort of indication, maybe some of you can help on that. Dropped $3,800 for it and the engine and transmission feel great. I'm a work from home software engineer and plan to work really remotely now traveling the country. This has been a dream of mine for 5+ years and at 31 with no kids, no girlfriend, and my German Shepard Beast, I'm ready to head out in a few months after repairs. She's a bit ripped apart right now as I am learning, but I do intend on performing a total makeover. Now for the questions. 1. Rear tire (picture below) appears to be leaking what I assume is differential fluid, not sure how to fix that. 2. Over cab bed is in shambles. Where does one get materials to fix that? 3. The over cab bed front window over the driver side is cracked, I'd like replace those with some nice tinted windows. Where is a good source for that? 4. The generator appears to be leaking oil? What could that be? Since I'll be working out of this, I'd appreciate from hearing from folks who have done the same a long with any advice. Would like to hear from all of you actually thanks.
  7. Thanks for the replies. Its a little too hot out to be working in that sucker so I'll take a look later tonight. Didn't see a fuse at first glance, but will check again. Hopefully thats it else I'll just buy a new one like others have suggested.
  8. Hey all, just purchased 1990 Toyota v6 Motorhome, not sure on the RV manufacturer/model. Anyways it has 2, 100 watt solar panels feeding into 2 deep cycles then into an inverter. The batteries were reading 14v from my multi-meter and I'm thinking it was that high cause they were taking in a charge from the panels. The inverter is a Trace 2012SB and when I tap the power button twice I get nothing (i dug up the manual here http://www.xantrex.com/documents/Discontinued-Products/971-9901-03-01.pdf). This inverter is old AF (I think i saw an inspection note inside it saying 1991) and I think the company is long gone. Can't find any fuses on the sucker so no idea on that. Anyways what trouble shooting steps should I take here? Maybe I ought to just take this to an electronics shop and see if they can test it? Thoughts? Thanks.
