  1. Boo... I am only 16/17 feet long...lol B
  2. Yeah, it's cool 1977 won't be easy to find, let alone download for free. B
  3. HA! indeed. My rig came with the original owners manual, and this... You have a URL for the Pdf of the Factory Service Manual? B
  4. My toilet is in pieces, and yes, the hole is sealed up right now. Although the last owner said it did work before they switched over to a dry camping rig. You are correct! I have a brand new 25gal fresh tank and new pump.. but no grey water, or black tank. I am only 16' feet long, and storage and weight are way more important to me right now. So that is one for re-hooking my water system up... and one for the poobucket. I was looking into those 2.5 gal portables. I am assuming those are what is known as a cassette, (?) that you spoke of. Any brand recommendations?... or other types I should think about? B
  5. There are so many toilets out there for camping and RVs, Whether retired and live aboard to the weekender or the full time Boondocker, what is the squatter use to take a squat? I have made my self dizzy, researching the world of toilets, from the $1000 composting, to the $15 poop in a bag concepts. I won't have access to "hook ups", so I have decided to install one of the portables, as the toilet in my RV will only be used for emergencies or weekend jaunts around the state. When I take off on my 2 year trip I will reinstall the Black/gray and fresh tanks, but for now... What do you use or recommend for the weekend warrior? B
  6. Very nice! TY Derek! I just took my new toy to the mechanic that the previous owner had taken her to for the last 4 years. (as the clicking was bugging me)... Here is how the conversation went; Me: "Hello, I've heard you are familiar with this machine", Mech: "Oh yes very familiar". Me: "So what do I need to know, and where do I begin" (hands waving and spanning the the length from nose to tail.) Mech looking a bit confused: "Nothing needs to be done to it, its a great running truck." Me looking a bit shocked: "Not that I am using it as a daily driver, but your saying, I could use it as a daily driver?" Mech: "Yes", Me: "can I take her to the beach?" (implying a 150 mile round trip) Mech sounding very confident: "Yes" Me with a smile on my face. "Can I take her to southern Oregon for some desert camping?" (implying 600-900 mile round trip) Mech smiling now himself: "Of course you can , this is a great running truck." Then we proceeded to talk emissions and general BS about 20r's and so forth. My 20r definitely makes noises that if my Smart car made I would be terrified of, but now that I have driven her a few hundred miles, (yup 3day beach trip as mentioned above) She has that tic like a clock and runs smooth. That PDF looks to be a good reference to have on my phone/computers. Thank you B
  7. Nice! I spent a couple of hours yesterday, with the nice folks at Rose City RV, which do fixes to complete restoration. I was looking for places to order parts online. B
  8. This is great info, as I have not yet fired up my refridge yet. B
  9. I am thinking of going with a hand pumped 5gal water bottle for my fresh water needs. Anyone doing this? What water filters would be good for a setup like this? (Say, I am on the road and can't buy a new fresh bottle, so I refill and filter from a tap or hose.) Pros? Cons? Suggestions? I really do not want the 25gal tank and electric pump system I have now. I feel it is to heavy as well, I worry about stagnation, foul tastes and bad odors. I also don't feel the need to use the electricity as my rig is so small, I haven't the room for any inverter larger than 2000w, so my electricity usage is a major factor. B
  10. That Panasonic seems like a go! If I ever decide to get a microwave, I will be looking into that.
  11. Cool post! I am looking forwards to seeing how it comes out. I too am going to redo my inside... B
  12. I will definitely keep that in mind.
  13. The neighbors are not a problem as the house is zoned as a dwelling and business. The backyard is in fact partial parking lot. I will be tucked away behind the house. and the buildings on both sides are businesses that no one lives in. My rig is a micro RV at 17' long and 10' high. I still work full time, so it will be used mainly for sleeping while I restore it. Yes to all the above. and I am sure one of my bandmates or current girlfriend would let me stay a night or two (a week) while any major repairs are being done. I feel I have taken the rose colored glasses off... I am tired of the system... I know it sounds cliche... but its true... I am paying $1200 a month for a nice two bedroom apt in the suburbs. I don't need this much space, I don't need this much stuff. I have spent this whole 3day weekend getting rid of all the useless crap. I don't own things they own me, time for them to go. I have no debt and nor do I want to acquire anymore. I plan on seeing all the lower 48 and Alaska over the next 5 years. So now is the time to jump in and to work on the rig. Life takes a lot of work and sacrifice to maintain. I am putting my energy into something that I can live in and travel with, instead of just renting a box and filling it up with unnecessary crap. I spent 20years as a broke musician in rock'n'roll bands. I have spent a lot of time cramped up in tour vans on the road with three other smelly dudes going from city to city on small three to four state self funded tours. (I loved every minute of it) It's time to get back on the road, only this time I am trading in my guitars and amps for cameras and fishing gear. Haha! nice
  14. My apartment complex told me I can not park the new toy here. (It's a bit ghetto fore sure, they are afraid someone will live in it.) The good news is my friend from college said I could park/live in his backyard for $200 a month for the next year! (includes wifi, electric, and water) Sa'weet! My lease is up in 2 months... that means I have $1000 a month to put into my machine. I own a smart car for the daily driver... so I am having the Engine, transmission, drive train and clutch on the new machine, all restored to 2016 standards. I also found a RV collision/restore company that is 6 blocks from my new residence. What I can't do... they sure the hell can!. So let the full restoration begin! I will post before and after pics of every step along the way. P.S. I am 50yrs old and have no kids... I am going to spend the cash even though I know I will never get it back!... it is going to be and for, my pleasure.
  15. Yup... I understand that is the case... but I have ta do what I do... I have read the Wilson's are a good purchase . B
  16. Yeah ... unlimited doesn't mean unlimited... LOL I am still searching, but I agree, I think realistically I am going to pay $80-$100 bucks... which isn't a problem as the goal is decent internet/wifi/tethered hotspots in the machine.
  17. Here is a link with some sound advice... http://www.gonewiththewynns.com/mobile-internet The link to PdaNet+ was worth the look.
  18. I get all my media from the internet plus netflix. I don't watch TV at all. I am thinking a $35-$50 dollar unlimited data plan w/tethering, no contract, is the best way to go. If one wants HBO...etc then adding the Roku would be the best option as it will run on the tethered hotspot. Any thoughts or suggestions? This is what Totem has suggested. The only problem I can foresee is having no signal due to network boarders. B
  19. I have heard nothing but good things about the Roku, I am looking into cellular internet TV as well. I don't watch TV, but then again I am not living in my rig ATM. Once I start, I would like to have as many choices of media as I can for the cheapest price. I have friends who swear by the Roku.
  20. I love the design and look of my little 70's machine. So if I ever do a complete restoration, I will stick to the original vision. I have no plans to do a complete restoration as I am planning on seeing all 49 states in it over the next 5 years. My plan for the next year is to just square it up for the trip.
  21. Not often...When I lived on the coast, it rained 44days in my backyard... that is freekin biblical.
  22. That is what I would love to do... a complete restoration.
