  1. Yes, definitely cannot afford both. And it would be nice to have more room inside, as it is with 4 of us sleeping and the dog we have to step over each other quite a bit. If only I could install a slide out.....
  2. LOL Linda!! A trailer can't beat this, we tend to camp local now not so much cross country and my wife would really like to have a separate vehicle once we get there. Plus she feels the kids are getting too big and want to bring friends, hence the trailer idea....
  3. Well I can't believe I am posting this but my wife wants a trailer so we may be selling my pride and joy. 1992 Toyota Winnebago Itasca. I am the 2nd owner and have been for 5 years, all maintanence has been done at Toyota of El cajon for 20 years including oil changes and even windshield wipers, I have piles of receipts. New fridge this year $1,000, new 4" exhaust last year $400, complete top end rebuild 4 years ago by toyota including all belts, hoses, sensors, radiator, intake/exhaust valves at $3800. Currently has 79,879 miles. Have driven thousands of miles since rebuild. This is a turn key gem, EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT. AC. Furnace, Kohler generator, Auto V6, averages 15mpg, top speed 85 mph on freeway, cruise control, fridge, microwave. welded on tow hitch. newer tires.Sleeps 4, dinette and couch converts to bed, standing separate shower. I have driven this from san diego to montana and wisconsin numerous times with my family. We camp up to 10 times per year and this really has been our family wagon I usually do craigslist , I have been a member of this great forum for 5 years now, you can see all my posts. So I thought I would start here. I am asking $11,500 as this really is an incredible find. Feel free to hit me up with questions, I am in no rush to sell and have another camping trip coming up in 4 weeks. The pictures are from our current labor day trip. Thank you. $11,500 Ken
  4. Thank you all, like I said it happened when my wife was driving and I was in another vehicle. I drove down the grade and 20 minutes up again to test the power and it was normal. On the straight away I had it at half a gas pedal going 75mph and could easily have hit 85 if I didn't value my life with the floating, lol. Ever since the dealer rebuilt the top end it has been a power beast. The power steering thing only happened once and it was when turning the wheel hard right after starting the engine and I got a momentary hard wheel and squeel, so maybe I didn't give it time to power the steering.
  5. Wife drove our 92 Toy Winnie up a large grade and said was losing top end power around 50 mph. When we got to the campsite I restarted the RV to back into space and noticed a quick drop in power with power steering loss and a squeel then immediately ran normal. After camping two days I drove the RV down the grade and then back up again to check power. She ran perfectly, full power uphill, occasional downshift around 45mph at the steepest part, then 75mph on the straight away. We had the entire top end rebuilt by the Toyota dealer 4 years ago including intake and exhaust valves and all gaskets , belts and hoses. What are your thoughts? Temporary hic up? I could not duplicate the power loss my wife stated she had and it is running very strong. Thank you for looking. Ken 92 Toy Winnie 79,000 miles Only use Chevron gas and is driven monthly for 30min to two hours at a time complete top end rebuild by dealer at 69,000 miles
  6. My Kohler works great on my 92 Winnebago but the governor stopped working, I just turn the lower idle screw on really high until I get the AC blowing strong or when the lights on the microwave stop flickering. I have used it this way for years no problem, It just starts up at high rev so I make sure something is plugged in and drawing power. Hope this works for you.
  7. So if you turn on the propane to the fridge and it reads 11 on the water column that is good. But if you turn off the propane and have the fridge turned off how long should the water column gauge hold at 11? Or does it make a difference?
  8. Looks like a $1,000 installed for a whole new unit, I was going to replace the cooling unit but they only sell refurbished. I would prefer no problems down the road.
  9. So after some research, a whole unit delivered is around $860, new cooling unit on ebay is $500, I can remove it and turn it upside down and hope that fixes is or it may be a temporary fix. Called Dometic dealers here in San Diego waiting for quotes....
  10. So if you flip the fridge and it works again will this continue to happen? Do you have to flip it once or twice per year? Thank you!!
  11. Hello Toy Home friends, I have had my 1992 Toyota Winnebago Itasca for 4 years now and suddenly my Dometic fridge stopped working. I tried propane and electric, the back coils would get hot all the way up to the last top coil and then no heat above that. I tried banging the coils, left it on for 48 hours, opened everything I could to see if any wires were loose but all looks well. Is the fridge repairable or do I just buy a new one? Any recommendations in San Diego? Thank you all. I will search threads also. ps It is a Dometic model RM 2410 22" wide and 36" tall single door, freezer in fridge compartment. 12. Great! that should work, I will have to pull up the carpet on the bottom step or bolt through them.
  13. Hi All, I have a 1992 Toyota Winnebago Itasca Spirit that needs a rv step, there was never one mounted so I would have to drill holes. Has anyone ever done this? I am surprised the factory never installed one since there is plenty of clearance. I assume I drill the holes and use bolts and washers but do I need to use metal support on the inside of the rv so it doesn't just rip out? Anyway if anyone has done this or has pics lemme know. Thank you. I also want to cut a hole in the passenger side under the dinette in order to stow and retrieve camp chairs from the outside through a hatch door, what are your ideas? Ken
  14. Hi All, Had the tv plugged into a new inverter in the rear 12v cigarette socket, worked great for a while then socket stopped working. I can't find the fuse to check, any ideas? I opened the outlet and the fuse there was good. I plugged other items in the socket and it just does not work. Thanks Ken
  15. Thanks everyone, my wife was upset when we almost ran out of gas coming home from Disneyland with the kids,I swore we had a low fuel light and kept saying WOW we are geting a lot of miles off this tank until..........sputter, put pt put, sputter as we were going uphill. Luckily old faithful drove us 6 blocks on level ground to a gas station.
