Hi all, only been out once this summer for many reasons. Update on my recall woes: finally have an appointment nest week to get the head gasket recall/special service done. However, poor dusty has other issues. Leaky exhaust manifold is a big one. Hoping to get that fixed when the head is off. She has had a new starter motor, a full tuneup with plugs, leads, rotor, belts, egr valve. She drives fine, hates hills and drinks gas. After driving for even half an hour, she won’t start up again. All the dash lights come on, seatbelt buzzer goes on, starter clicks, but it all ends there. She will start with jumper cables. when the motor is cooled down she starts up fine. any thoughts?

Hi all, I’m not with my slumber queen and need to give the height of it to a dealership where it is going. 1990 Toyota slumber queen with air conditioner. I have searched online but can’t find the height anywhere, the length is 21’ thank you!

Hi Derek, yes, I do have a multimeter but are you saying that it no longer functions as a starter solenoid ? I can take a photo of the whole engine? ?‍♀️

No part number visible, I think it’s a starter solenoid but when I search for that I don’t get anything that resembles it. It’s a 1990 3.0 EFI

Drove back from our camping trip where everything worked really well except the starting issue, (had to keep her running while we were at the dump station) took about an hour. Parked, turned off. Tried to restart... nothing. opened the hood, got my hammer, and hit what I thought was the alternator or solenoid, didn’t have my glasses on, and miraculously it started! And has every time I try it now. heres the strange part: what I hit was a part called a speed control actuator, something to do with the cruise control, which I don’t have!

Hi all and thanks for the info, but I have a slumber queen, not a warrior. I did check with the shop in saskatoon that install the new fridge last year, they confirmed that yes, the door had to come out, and no , Dometic won’t pay for that. we are camping right now along the fraser river, dry camping, every working well...except that enroute, after about an hour driving we stopped at a gas station. Got back in, she wouldn’t start? got a jump started instantly. parked at the campsite, after almost another hour driving, turned it off. Wouldn’t start. Tried again later, started fine, and again even later. Started fine. the battery is good one visible negative ground good, the other one, I can’t see where it ends. It’s had a new egr valve, new starter motor, new plugs leads belts rotor distributer cap, air filter. When it doesn’t start, all the dash lights come on, but it won’t turn over. It has a steering column gearshift, I tried pulling it towards me in park while turning the key, and it turned over briefly. thats all I know so far, I got a voltmeter, have yet to figure out how to use it....

Hi Greg the shop that did the compression and borescope tests and tuneup said that lead/cord wasn’t live. The mpg is dismal, and it CRAWLS up hills...there’s a leak in the exhaust manifold and it’s one more thing I can’t afford at this point. on the bright side, I got a new fridge under warranty except the rv dealership charged me for re and re of the rv door to install the fridge. Dometic will not pay any such ‘extras’

Sorry all, I’m having trouble trying to post properly! Ended up with 2 photos and no text to explain. The part in the photo is attached to the driver side engine compartment and has a red wire that’s not attached to anything. The end of the wire is in the picture. Its some kind of high performance ignition thing, and the wire looks like it pushes onto something, it’s like a spark plug wire. Mechanic said it wasn’t live, so why is it there at all? lost in space?‍♀️

Update?, after diligently searching and great suggestions from others, I found 6 lens replacement at westcoastrvrecyclers in centralia Washington. Sent photos, and the guy there, (Ron) was super helpful. $1 each and shipped in 2 days!

Hi all, I feel like we will never get dusty, our little slumber queen, out on a trip! Latest issue: after driving it for half an hour to the rv dealership to get the fridge replaced, when the shop tech went to move it, it wouldn’t start. it has a new starter motor, new rotor cap, cables, spark plugs, air filter , belts, egr valve. put the key in, turn it, all the engine lights come on, no clicking, it doesn’t turn over. Voltmeter shows 13+ on the battery. it started immediately with a jump. my only clue, when we got this rv is it came with about 5 sets of keys, 2 original black topped Toyota keys, the others plain metal replacements. I didn’t have them all with me, or I would have tried them all, just in case it’s some kind of hesitation in the ignition switch. any ideas, anybody?

Hi all. My 1990 slumberqueen has a solar panel on the roof: I have no idea if it is doing anything or how old it is. The battery compartment, (1 battery) is directly below it. My battery is brand new, having bought it when my also new Dometic fridge wasn’t working, to ensure I had a good dc feed to the fridge eyebrow electronics. So how can I tell if the solar panel is doing anything?

Hi I posted this on my own profile/status...probably the wrong place. i need to replace 5 light covers in my 1990 Toyota slumber queen: they have no identifying mark or number on the, but I’m discovering they are smaller than every other cover I have found on amazon, eBay, rv supply stores. They are 4 and a half inches square, give or take, they are flexible with 2 ‘lips’ that allow them to pop in and out. If anyone has the same and knows where I can get them I would love to know? photos below

Good result on the Dometic fridge???! It was the cooling unit, and Dometic is replacing the whole fridge.

Maybe I used the wrong term..., it was something next the radiator. I don’t know what a crate engine is, but they know I just need the hole in the manifold fixed, if pullingthe head off is going to cause more harm than good in terms of finding obsolete parts, then it won’t happen.

Hi Derek, I know what you are saying, but it’s not just the head gasket. Yes I qualify, but those recalls were mostly done by 1995-6. When the head comes off, there’s a bearing they may not be able to replace. We already had a problem finding an EGR valve that would fit, had to modify one. They are doing a compression test, and a borscope test and there may be a sticky valve, There’s a leak in the manifold too.id rather know what to expect before the head comes off. It was built in Japan
